A successful little experiment with Snake Oil

Well, the OH has gone out and my daughter's revising for A/S exams (Physics tomorrow), so with a little time to spare, I thought I would try a little experiment.
I am very aware that with the arrival of my Russian and Kayfun clones, my poor little Protanks were not getting a look-in any more, so I wondered how I could breathe new life into them.
I decided to try a microcoil at around 1.3 ohms and wick with cotton wool so that I could fit them on my Caravela and still get a decent hit from them; there was another ulterior motive and that was that lairey recently and kindly sent me a small sample of 'Snake Oil' to try, and I thought that this would be the perfect vehicle for this little trial.
Did it work? The jury's out on all aspects but by the time I've finished this post, the wick should have absorbed enough juice to give it a decent toot and let you know.

I made a microcoil on the 2mm shank of a jeweller's screwdriver, and then fitted it whilst supported on a thick sailmaker's needle, which fits the Protank slots perfectly. I don't have any needle-nose tweezers but still managed to gain access to squeeze the wraps together, and the ohms came out at 1.2, just what I was aiming for.
Reassembled, checked at every stage, and now comes the big test . . . . . . .

First on my Vamo at 8.0watts (it must be right on the limit for the Vamo), a great crackle from the coil, and plumes of vapour (more about the juice itself in a moment). Certainly no lack of flavour either!
Next, on the Caravela; also works a treat, and with similar taste and vapour production. Takes a little longer to get heated up, but I'm guessing that this is the lack of electronics involved! The battery is about an hour old with not a lot of vaping, and is a Panasonic 18650.

So to the Snake Oil. A strange melange of tastes, with definite citrus notes, and also menthol and (I think) aniseed or eucalyptus, with a pleasantly bitter hint too (maybe that's just the citrus). A nice flavoursome juice, but I neglected to check the strength so am now slightly light-headed as it's 18mg, and I'm now used to 8mg - rather strong!!

If anyone else could give me their impressions of the flavours involved, I would like (with Lairey) to attempt a recipe to replicate this, but my palate has now failed me!

As for the Protanks with a low ohm coil - I'm not sure if using such low ohms will damage the head, but I have plenty of spares so it will head binwards if so. It works a treat on the Caravela which was the main object of this exercise, and I will now recoil another couple of old heads as standbys.

Good post , but surprised to hear you find the mech mod firing the coil more slowly then the reg mod, I've find it to be the opposite way round.

I might bite the bullet and buy some snake oil, it's one of those eliquids which has extremely positive reviews and I'm now wondering why the heck I haven't bought any ???

Time to buy.

Update - @purple1234, now that the coil has settled down, it has indeed become reversed, and fires with a kick like a mule as soon as I fire the Caravela.

That's more like it . One of ( out of many) things I love about mech mods , instant hit and power to coil .

argh! sounds like snake oil would be right up my street too...

I do try to avoid all juice that I can't replicate/ buy concentrate specifically because I'm scared of loving it! haha

Lol nope but what the heck 9.89 for snake oil and Astaire is cool and as the old saying goes

'If its under a tenner , then it don't count ( as far the mrs is concerned)'
