@scooby, just done a prelimery test with a standalone coil. No device etc.i found that one strand goes through a 2mm quit nicely. I've got the coil wicked sat on a piece of foil, do you find that it takes a while to absorb?

After washing/boiling it was quicker to absorb than the Rico Mrsmac but not quite as immediate as cotton wool. once saturated it seems to wick well. I feel it may take a while to find the optimum amount for a given coil size, but as it's easier to manipulate than Rico, more like cotton wool, that isn't a problem I'll give more details of my finding later but I'm quite impressed and looking forward to hearing what others think.

This is how I built my coils with the organic cotton. I'm not saying it's the best way or the only way, it's early days yet but it's performing well for me. First off I separate the 2 strands; Then I gently tease one to open it up a bit. In my first build I just used it like Rico, pulling it through as it was and I got burning. My reason for doing this is that it should help with capillary action. I separated the other strand in half and did the same. I'm aiming to put 2 1/2 strands in the 2mm coil. Using a kanthal loop I pulled the doubled over single strand just through. then introduced the other 1/2 piece so as it would be sandwiched. (As in Andrews Vids steam sandwich) Here it is all through and ready to trim; A couple of pics in my Spheroid after about 3ml of juice; I'm finding the flavour full and rounded, no harshness, no burning and no muting of the flavour yet, which as I said was a fault I found with cotton wool. It it seems to perform particularly well in the Kayfun V3.1 which I think just sees off the Spheroid It gets the thumbs up from me for it's versatility and flavour. it has the feel of a quality, I expect anyone wanting to knit something for a baby would really appreciate that

Nice pics @scooby and interesting I split the double strand into a single then pulled it thro the coil in a double fashion as per your early pics ...not nearly as pretty as yours nor as neat ....I used it in a protank mini with a 1.5 ohm micro coil ...and it does seem to be performing very well ...to me anyway lol

i know its a daft question but do anybody remember making wool yarn at junior school there was a pair for brushes you used on the raw wool to get all the strands to run same way wth were they called cause i recon it might be worth a try with cotton wool ok sorted head out its a posses called carding flextiles.wordpress.com/2011/02/15/dog-brushes/off to the local pet shop icon_shoppingm for huge ammounts of wool (sheep wool ) you can make your own with plank of wood and nails in it. i suppose one could do the same with thin plank and small pins, or even thick cardboard and tacks pushed through. Just thinking out loud decoyHow about a couple of those square dog brushes you used to get with the fine pins on them. Can you still get them.

Just want thank @scooby & Mrsmac for the cotton yarn, it looks like it will fit any size coil rather than tweaking to coil for the wicking material with the Rico. I have been vaping on the Kayfun more than ever before with the Rico in a 3 mm coil and am on the 4th tank of juice with one of them: the flavour is a little less than new but still very good vape.

@scooby Fantastic macro shots mate. What camera and lighting do you use? Looks bloody great. Ruff Thanks for that ruffdog. I use a Panasonic GF1 it's a micro 4/3. The lens is indeed a macro one I pick up on ebay for £40, it's an Asahi Macro-Takumar preset 50mm manual lens from the 60's No special lighting, just widow light from the right and a lastolite silver reflector on the left. There's a little light from a Velux window above. I hand held and focused by moving the camera back and forth holding my breath, then hitting the shutter at the right moment. One in three are acceptably sharp that way. Sold my tripods a while ago but I'm looking at getting another small one as I'd get better results in this type of photography with one.

Thanks for the info @scooby Will have to get my macro attachments out and have a go. I have a tripod but no reflectors. Don't think I have ever gotten as sharp a photo with my stock on the eos 450d. Must try harder.
Sorry for OT posts guys.

Mrsmac do you think any of them will fit my 1.8mm coils without tasting smokey? I've tried the Rico, and the wool like one, bother struggled to go through.

The latest one @scooby & Mrsmac have been posting about today (yesterday now) you could pull apart or double up to make any thickness, so the answer is probably 90% yes IMO. I found the Rico great in a 3 mm coil, but poor in 2.5 and shite in 2 mm.

Must try harder. Sorry for OT posts guys. Ruff Threads often diversify and develop a life of their own, makes them more interesting You can use anything as a reflector, piece of white paper, Ive used the round polystyrene pizza bases before, even covered them with foil. Good thing is you can see what effect it's having and adjust. I enjoy macro photography and since doing a few build photos I've been chasing insects round the garden, not much luck though sammy13 I reckon this latest cotton will solve your problem. As VapingBad said it's very adaptable. are you down to receive some?

VapingBad the coil dia thing you noticed is interesting, do you experience the same quality variations when you use other wicking material in various size coils or is it just the Rico?
