Q the Japanese cotton, Rayon, Rico and most stuff with parallel fibres work better and is easier to use than cw. I prefer Rayon as I do a build similar to the one in post #270 a lot, but I use the others on occasion depending on the particular build.

I don't know which one I have remnant kindly gave me a few sheets at a meet and I'm sure it didn't come from them. They may know a lot about mes and wire, but aren't that clued up on how we use this stuff IMO so somtimes stock things that sound right or in silly sizes EG: 0.45 mm Ni200 wire for DNA40 is much too big.

The Jap cotton I handed out at the meet was from Muji. They do sell it online, but for some odd reason, they're having trouble keeping it in stock lately. I can't imagine why that would be. They do two kinds, one which looks bleached, and one which doesn't. The whiter one is (very slightly) cheaper. If you can get to a Muji store, packs of 120 pads cost £1.95, iirc - a small fraction of the cost anywhere else (apart from vendors who have been giving it away with orders, I've seen a couple of those). I haven't boiled or otherwise messed about with the stuff in any way, and I haven't had any problems with it at all.
