The top one is the Rico used for 10 ml of juice (flavour started to go a little) in Kayfun in a 3 mm 1.33 ? micro-coil.

The bottom one is the flat/stiff one used for 4 ml of juice in Kayfun in a 2 mm 1.4 ? micro-coil.

Both used in a mech.

intriguing results VapingBad, shame that the flavour on the rico faded after about 10mls, although that is probably spot on actually! lol would you say you prefer it to cotton wool? i have been running various tests with different tanks and juices and cotton wool tastes funny to me because of all the changes. I'm going to try the rico in the kayfun next

So far I prefer the Rico to cotton wool, but will keep experimenting now I have 7 Kayfun clones (4 exactly the same from Focal group buy).  I may try a 3 mm coil with cotton wool, I have done 2.5 which was good.  I expect the Rico will win as its the easiest to use and keeps its shape well so will work in a range of coil sizes where it doesn't have to form a seal like in a Pro-Tank.

I think VapingBad has shown that less is in fact more. It's no bad thing to have the wick, whatever you use, a little loose in the coil.

Regarding the wetting up of these yarns, I feel washing is the answer. A cotton towel or tea towel only reaches it's maximum absorbancy after a few washes,
they're rubbish when new.

Most of the American threads I've read seem to recommend washing the Snc & PnC which has the advantage of riding them of any off flavours, VapingBad did and it seemed to do the trick.

I was thinking along similar lines to @scooby that well washed/aged cotton would be good, I did a summer of new build (houses/flats) cleaning in my youth and the really old cotton dusters were more absorbent and much better for polishing windows after the squiggle. IMO its the breaking down of the cotton fibres that causes this, boiling probably does this to a lesser degree. Maybe I should get a small cement mixer and throw loads of the Rico in with some pebbles. But you could put your balls in a mesh bag and throw them in with every white wash you do for months.
