On the subject of the "Link" function, has anybody tried to connect to a PC with the battery still connected? I've put one into "Link On" and plugged in the USB, but my PC just says Unable to recognise USB device. Disconnect battery and it connects straight away.

Fat Daddy Vapes sold out 3000 in about 6 hours of going on sale. That was quicker than the previous 5000 which were on sale for about 2 days before selling out. You'd think he would buy 10,000. These things go like hot cakes.

I myself prefer to charge things not via a p.c, only because i don't fancy frying the pc just in case

IIRC USB 2.0 ports are limited to 500mA draw by a fuse link on the motherboard. Draw more than this and the fuse will blow, disabling that port but not damaging the PC. Someone like myself or ronaldo could easily replace the fusible link, others would have to part with some hard earned to get it repaired. In these days of multiple USB 2.0 loss of one port is not the end of the world. But imagine someone not knowing what is going on, moving a charger lead to another port, blowing that one and gradually progressing through all the ports til they'r all dead. Always use the correct mains adapter. Newer USB 3.0/3.1 should, by design, be capable of up to 900mA. Some makers go beyond this. My USB3s can deliver up to 2Amps each. This still does not make them safe, because this is beyond the rating of the charger circuit and will not provide sufficient protection should the charger go into a fault condition. This is why we always recommend mains adapters of suitable rating. Never use anything designed for something else (iPad chargers spring to mind). ronaldo's rule #1: Keep safe.
