Ended up with a nic headache last night, after hitting 20W on the KFL from 6PM. Had the snotty congested feeling, dull throbbing headache, "wow it's just like when I was chain smoking". First time in literally years that's happened! This is on 18 MG 60% VG so no wonder. So with two 30 ML bottles both run down to empty - time to make some more - these have been tuned down to 9 MG. The last big batch I made were 12 MG too so the journey to lower nicland is on!

We need more tests like this, but in a scientific environment. Not just on wicks either but on all materials such as coils, tanks etc.

Interesting though not surprising that the Japanese Cotton & Rayon came out on top, but Rayon is much cheaper and lasts a bit longer this would make it the winner in my book. It also confirms what I thought that Rayon is not as porous from the blue dye test and the flavour change test, good for people that think it needs breaking in as they can just keep washing the same wick.
I think it's vary close for @scooby as he is comparing to good quality organic cotton yarn where as most of us are comparing it to cotton wool balls. I think I have a little of that yarn and didn't have as much luck as @scooby did with it, but I will give another try sometime soon.

If anyone has access to a chemistry laboratory it would be worthwhile doing a few tests submerging wicking materials into water, alcohol, acidic and alkaline solutions and see what they 'add' to each. In particular water of course. Cold water, then boiling hot (straight boiling and then heated to boiling point for extra geekness). A fume cupboard would be useful too for burn tests. Sadly I haz no access to such facilities

Something like that he made sure the fibres ran length wise. That's certainly true with rayon and looks like it is with the japanese cotton pads, but very hard if not impossible to do with cotton wool. The organic cotton yarn also has the fibres running length wise. See my two coils a few post back, there is very little difference in the look of both except the colour. I reckon that helps with wicking.

Might have to try this, seems everyone prefers it then? Read this thread at beginning and was skeptical, but since it's grown n grown I can't ignore it any more! davetherayon, you got loads left, or had a serious battering since you've been sending it out? Would love to try a bit but if your running short I'll hunt a bit down on ebay. As davetherayon was so kind to send ma a huge sample I'm happy to send some of it to you boyofford to test. It's only fair, Dave must have spent a fortune on postage and hours writing envelopes! PM your addy and I can send some off on Monday. Sue Thanks again sue! And thanks to davetherayon too for sharing his 100year stash. The 'sample' sue sent me will last me weeks at least but probably few months! Just swapped out the cotton wool in my origen and had a few toots. Dual coil 0.56 ohm setup. First impressions, it's weird stuff to work with compared to cotton. Used a thicker wick than would of done using cotton after reading comments in this thread but still easily pulls through coil, weird again! The vape... I'm vaping keylime home brew and it's seems sharper, less sweet, works for this juice, will be interested to see how it works with desert type flavours for me.....and my head hurts slightly! Nic rush I think, using normal mg nic juice I use. Seems to by transfering the juice quicker, more vapour and emptying wells quickly. Too early to see how stands up to all day use, and how long it will last but impressed. Early days, and above findings could be placebo effect but don't think so. Thanks again to you both!

Yes ronaldo those two and rayon seem to outperform cotton wool in many ways, which one you use is very much a personal thing. I'll be using all three, just got to think who I'm going to leave what's left of what I've got when I'm gone

I keep going back to it in different set ups but still get an odd after taste. Not getting any odd tastes with the Rayon.
