I must be weird or doing something wrong, probably the latter. But I get a horrible taste from both cw and rayon ???

Probably the amount, with the rayon I have heard someone suggest that a strip 3 times the diameter of your coil is what to go for, very snug but you can still pull it through without bending the coil. Another way to tell with rayon is after it has a tank of juice is to check for gaps between the coil and the wick (it shrinks slightly), squash the wick slightly where it goes into the coil, if there is use a bit more.

Have to ask, is everything scrupulously clean when you rewick? Even the slightest bit of contamination can show up in a juice, as I know to my cost having had a bit of onion on my hands before rewicking

With CW it was jamming the coil zeldamumAnd I was needing to rewick every 2 days and recoil every week... I let the rayon go a bit looser. Rewick every 3-4 days (today only cos no throat hit) and haven't recoiled in 10 days!!!

I don't heat the coil in a new build anymore, or dry burn a used coil. There has been some discussion about the danger of the oxidisation this causes. I think the jury's out regarding this but recoiling and wicking is easy and cheap so that's what I choose to do. In the early days I read a tutorial by Super-Shiny on builds, he mentioned the importance of washing your hands before building, that stuck in my mind, so I always give them a good scrub beforehand

I found my 1st rayon wick seemed to taste scorched and gurgled used a lot of juice compared to cotton wool for the 1st half a tank full. It seemed to settle then and after finishing the tank I just rinsed under the tap and refilled with a different flavour. Still using this now and it's settled much more flavour than the cotton wool and no cross over flavour zeldamum. Think I read somewhere it takes longer to soak in at first I might have been too impatient though I did prime the wick before adding the chimney. There wasn't any scorch marks on the rayon when I checked before the flavour change btw.

I am getting loads of vapour, but still a burnt taste even vaping at 6.5w on a 1.5 ohm coil. W I think I will have to stick with the silica or bought coils

zeldamum this may seem a daft question .. But are you priming the wicks with juice and then having a couple of 'sucks' without firing before you have your first vape ?.... Sounds like it's a juice flow / wicking issue

Yes and leaving them for a few minutes to really soak in. The first vape is lovely, but then it goes down hill. Even leaving it alone for a few minutes in between vapes doesn't seem to help.

What atty/s zeldamum? Kayfuns seem to play very well with rayon, while the hardest one to make wick consistently is the Squape. It also seems in my experience that a rayon wick benefits from a larger diameter coil (3mm) than cotton (1.5mm).
