I don't know what you're all talking about. I park up, plug in my 40 metre orange cord with the blue/white end into a box and then run everything off the mains.

I have arranged things to not need electric hook-up now the kids are old enough to leave at home. Lots of LED lamps & enlope or ready-to-go type NiMh batteries for lighting and Icy-Teck cool box so we can go to more rugged/remote sites where we can get some good walks with out using the motor.

You have an icy-teck......I'm jealous.....but in the van the fridge runs off gas (only gas, it's the only one way fridge I've ever seen) and would love to wild camp, do the odd night but not more. I'm afraid I'm too soft, no propex so take a fan heater!

sleedale the Icy-teck rooks: warm cans of beer bought on the way back to the site cold in 10 mins, you do have to find a super market every few days to buy some bags of ice, France is much better you can get a solid single block litre of ice there. Before I got that I would use one of those big two handle floppy buckets from the garden centre 2/3 full of cold water for the beer.

You may want to get a 'Battery Master' from a company called Vanbitz. It takes charge from your leisure battery to ensure that the engine battery doesn't go flat. I'm a bit obsessive about battery power in my camper. The leisure battery capacity is 500Ah, 4 x 125Ah, as I go away for a couple of months at a time and don't use campsites. I avoid 'maintenance free' batteries and check the levels regularly. That's why my leisure batteries are over 9 years old and still going strong. I'd better stop now. I used to only be able to 'bore for England' about Campers but now I've added Vaping to my repertoire that last sentence lol i know so well after owning a Hobby 600fse 23ft Fat Duccatto 2.8jtd chipped engine motorhome ooh with an Oyster dish @munkymunky Do you still own it? Mine's a Hymer on the 2.8jtd. Oh the Oyster dish. I can rave about that as much as sub ohmers do their clouds. It means I can watch the football as far south as you can go in Italy. I've stopped at Oyster HQ in Germany several times for updates, repairs and last year a new receiver. They have 5 spaces for Campers with free hookup. They always knock on your door about 0800 and present you with a bag of rolls "For your breakfast". The area around it is great for walking & cycling and if you time it right cherries from the trees alongside the cycleways.

VapingBad we have a nomad cooler which works brilliantly for the tents, but use the camper fridge mostly. A good cooler is an essential piece of kit and my tenting buddies lurve their icy-tecks. Seems we've started a camping vapers thread Cool

I have a solar powered powered battery pack that I use when camping. I use it for my phone, iPad and ecigs and it works. It can be charged via a micro USB lead as well as by solar. It has 2 USB sockets for connecting 2 items at once to charge.

I was going to suggest same, I bought a kensington one (non solar) to keep my crappy smartphone alive, but came in handy the other day on a long journey across europe on public transport to keep my MVP on full charge. Or you could buy an MVP and use it as a battery pack !!!!! hmmm is that right lol MP

We love tent camping and despite investing in an EHU lead last year, we have yet to use it. Cool box is a Coleman Extreme, brilliant and has wheels for festival camping when there is a schlep from the car to the tent. I'm going to treat us to a 5m Bell tent when I get my redundancy money Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have a Solarmonkey solar panel and accessories; it's great for keeping my Spinner up to the top, but haven't ever tried a conventional 18xxx charger on it. It's also good for topping up a mobile phone too!

For 18xxx charging I know for a fact that the I4 and trustfire TR001 have 12v charging plugs

Only drawback is the height, they aren't easy to keep warm on cooler days, but they make an inner if you want one. for a lovely romp around camping gear, have a look at A good mates camping blog might make you giggle. Val is our camping expert although we all chip in and as a group sometimes meet up, often just chat, always support. Also +1 for the coleman extreme, fab cooler and comfy seat too.

I'll check that out later. I think I've seen some of Val's pics on UKCampsite forum, although not been on there this year yet as I've found a forum home here We'll be fine, Mr Lairey won't do winter camping (wuss! ) and the cold is a good reason to snuggle
