Whats the crack wit rebuildable attys and diy coils ? are they much better than a normal dual coil factory set up.
Sounds a bit like extra faffing to me but it all looks easy enough so is it really worth the extra effort over a kanger dual coil tank ?? What would I gain by going rebuildable ?

making your own replacement protank coils is worth it, as a microcoil is fairly simple to do and cheap. The vaping quality is vastly improved over a shop bought ready made. My imo. is that I already had 20 or so used coils so for the cost of some wire (a few pound) I can remake all my used coils over and over again. So instead of £1 each, they now cost a few pence each to rebuild.
Major bonus is that I'm now self sufficient so if our government bring in laws to limit vape usage it will not reflect or affect me as I can build my own coils and keep the vape gear I already have. So in the long run my focus is more about being self sufficient more than cost saving...although penny pinching makes me happy!

There's no need to use rebuildables if you're satisfied with the vape you already have. A few members on here feel that some of the latest clearomisers give as good a vape as most RBAs, but I've not tried them to know.
I guess the real advantage is that you can tailor your vape exactly as you want it, especially useful if you like vaping at higher powers. I love the tinkering and hobby side of it so rebuildables suit me, but if you feel it would be a hassle and you like vaping below 10w then get an aerotank and be happy!

@pep That does sound like one bonus being self sufficient. I`m saving all my dead coils for maybe a future faff. I`m liking the look of a few re buildable tanks (and the prices) . I can live with a 1-2 pound a week on coils though if its not a massive difference bar cost ? Fck the law should it not go our way . I can get parts sent from a friend in china if needed . Juice would be my main worry if the worst was to happen.

aye I don't plan to get into rebuilds - I have tried out most of the RBA 'types' so I know I can make them, I just choose not to I'm content with redoing my protank coils. I do have ready made unused stock, when I cba I open one and pop in my tank I dont mind recoiling my spheroids and I like doing my carto rebuilds ( my divers and killers) but again - I have a box of boges for lazy days! I think you have to work out what works for you

That might have made my decision . Fairly happy with my aerotanks . they work well . As I guess quite a few others I`m always tempted by what may be better . I`m happy at 8-9 watts . much more I find things a bit too warm .

again. I have all my DIY stuff for mixing my own, and yes I do --- but I'm naturally bone idle! I generally use T-Juice concentrates ( they did all the magic mixing for me) I bung in 15% to my preferred base and off I go! Now and then, when I feel up for it I'll tinker with recipes but I'm afraid I'm a shameful mixer? - if I can find a 1 shot concentrate I'm happy

If your prepared to do a bit of practice, then making your own coils and wicks is well worth the effort. The improved taste of a cotton wick over silica is very noticeable. A rebuildable like a KFL is easier to work on than a clearomizer as you have more room and are not fiddling around with rubber sleeves that separate the legs on a clearo. Micro coils tend to last longer as well.

As I say, IMO if you're happy then no need to change - but things like kayfun clones are relatively cheap, especially from china or second hand, so it wouldn't break the bank to give it a go. It'll soon sell in the classifieds if you found it wasn't for you. Don't rule out vaping at higher wattages in the future - I was quite comfortable at around 8w for months, but with a cotton wool wick you can go much higher and the flavours really come through - it's very tasty

at the end of the day Cousin Itt if the UK law suddenly changes and you cant buy ready made coils I'm sure you would be able to go to a local vapemeet and take a freebie lesson on 'how to coil' I did exactly that recently, a forum member offered to do hands on tutorials when I went over to Liverpool Rojeans shop so I can if I want and I can buy ready mades if I'm having an off day.............all is good!

I got a kayfun mini clone last night and I'm struggling to get it set up properly, using a micro coil and cotton wick. When it does wick properly I can't really tell the difference between it and my aero tank which is also built with a mirco coil and cotton. The aero tank was very easy to recoil and get vaping like a champ! This mini clone is a different kettle of fish though!

Pepperty I think vaping will carry on no matter what the EU rule, we can buy pharmaceutical nic, PG, VG, flavours, aromas, kanthal, cotton wool, and im sure that we will still get our stuff from china without customs confiscating it. They are too busy looking for drugs and im sure they wont bother with an atty or rebuildable marked as electronic goods. Still support the fight though for all the smokers who havnt found vaping yet.

Hmmmm lol from the affordable choices out there what should I get ? a purpose designed re buildable looks less fiddly than redoing my kanger coils to start with.
