Toasters!

Just fancied a toasted cheese sandwich to soak up the alcohol (I know it's early, but on a day off so I don't care). Anyway, my beef is... why don't they make toasters that fit the bread? There's always a quarter of the slice that has to be turned around half way through to make an even toast. Surely they could make them an inch or so taller so you could just insert and forget until it pops up. Have I had too much already or does anyone agree? ???

I have made this complaint to the manufacturers many a time but they don't take any notice

I concur to everything you said Raffles, its a valid point you make.

Only the other day I was cursing my toaster as I had to turn the bread around halfway.

well I put the bread in side ways and it fits perfectly - otherwise go to curries with a slice of toast and try all various models

But it doesn't fit sideways... this could be a General Election winner... whichever party comes out, for once,  with actually solving a problem for the masses!

No waste in our house... we've got a dog! (Toast is her favourite meal of the day!!)

Easy fix.... just switch off the toaster/pull the plug out and prise them out, works for me on the odd occasion I've had that happen! Bread tends to shrink a bit so I've not really had too many problems... unless I use posh bread (you know the stuff with the crusty rounded top... yum!!)

The bog standard Warburtons (blue/orange/green wrapper) fits a treat

or you could go "Old School" and just use yer grill !!!!!!!!!
Worked for our granny and grannies granny, me as a kid and for cheese on toast that's how I toast my bread then melt the cheese.

Yes, I've done that... BUT we shouldn't have to. To me they are the most consumer UN-friendly appliance out there. I think we should boycott all toaster manufacturers until they listen to us, and I'll just chuck my bread under the grill.

ETA: Although you still have to turn it half way through... too much like cooking!
