Not impressed with the iTaste SVD

Any battery recommendation for iTaste 134? I'm looking at the Sony and Torchy.

It replaces the Protank's base, so, you put/twist/insert your coil into it and the adjustable airflow controls the tightness of the draw. The more open the airflow is the more air comes in and gives a more 'airy' draw, the more closed the airflow is the less air coming in giving a tighter draw.

If I remember correctly, I need unprotected batteries? How can I tell if a battery is protected/unprotected? These Panasonics NCR18650B appears to be unprotected.
