it's finally that time when hubby and I get to upgrade our mobiles, not sure what to go for this time, we have the samsung S3 at mo and when i got it loved the phone but rapidly got disappointed with charging it and how long it would last i would need to charge it at least once a day if not more until i got my tablet, so not sure what phone to go for
the samsung S5 is meant to keep charge longer, but it's like a brick apparently and is a cross between phone and tablet
nokia will run windows 8 which i'm now used to having a windows 8 laptop but there are not enough aps and i can't use sky go
iphone 5 never had an iphone so can't comment
LG G3 looks good and like the idea of a laser precision camera for my jewellery making
hmmm decisions decisions
What phone would you recommend, doesn't have to be any of the above, i would like a decent camera able to use aps and the internet, even though i do have a tablet have a half decent charge and make clear calls,

I still have my S2 which in my view was the best one they made. I wouldn't buy their more recent ones.
I like the look of the Sony xperia Z2!

Bought Mrs fred a Star 9500, from Amazon, for Christmas. Its basically a Samsung galaxy s4, but a LOT cheaper. She put it next to an s4 at work, and looks about the same - the lad said her fone was snappier!
Lasts her nearly two days, but came with a spare battery anyway.
Do some research, buy a decent China phone rather than a branded one and have money left for shinies. Alternatively, buy a new battery for your current phone.

I like the Nokia 510 fast ,long battery life, OK camera. Tbh phones to me are for text and ringing peeps i like them simple and solid or i break em. I had an old Nokia brick phone until it finally died under the guise that my little one thought it was cold so put it in my coffee lol. I must admit have had a couple smart phones android and windows. I prefer android for compatibility with my nexus 7 tablet but win is handy for other bits.

I have the same dilemma clairea - my iPhone 4s is nearly 2 years old so ready for upgrade, but I'm torn between the iPhone 5 or something which runs Android. I love the solid connectivity of all the apps within iOS, but also enjoyed the flexibility of Android where you can basically build the phone to your personal tastes. My pet hate with iPhones is the lack of Flash, which means the game I play won't run even using the desktop site for it I will avoid a Windows phone out of principle, and even backdate my computers to W7 as I just can't get on with W8. Decisions, decisions!!

android phones do not have flash either, or never used to don't know if that's changed with the recent upgrade. i haven't tried it out on tablet yet, I like windows 8 now i'm used to it didn't at the start, but i persevered with it and now love it, just disappointed with lack of apps for Windows 8 even sky go won't work on it which is rubbish for my laptop can't watch the films etc in bed like i used to,

I was recently due for an upgrade from my Galaxy S3 as it was also 2 years old.
I'm a phone geek. I REALLY like gadgets like phones, so that is where I was coming from. I will caveat that by also saying I HATE Apple. Their devices are too restrictive, and to not include an SD card slot in such technology is absurd and profit driven. The ONLY reason for omitting such a feature is profits. And I hate iTunes with a passion. I think the devil himself coded that horrible software.
Anyway, I moved my contract over to a rolling 30 day contract, so I can upgrade my phone whenever I want. Then I hunted down a Samsung Galaxy S4. I found one for around £100, so now I have an S4 with a £12 a month contract, giving me more mins / text / data that I usually use, and the flexibility to change phone whenever I wish.
I also have insurance for my phones through my bank. I was close to buying a S5 with a smashed screen, also for £100, and then just put it through insurance. Which would have been nice, but I am happy enough with the S4.
I recently looked into it, and THE best way to get a new phone is to buy it from Giff Gaff. All their phones are unlocked to any network, and get a sim only deal with your preferred network (Giff Gaff are great in the UK, but their roaming is expensive, and I am often out the country, so stuck with O2). Their phones can either be purchased outright, or financed. Their prices are pretty much the cheapest in the country on the latest phones. The finance does attract interest though, but this still works out cheapest. The absolute cheapest way to "pay up" the phone is to purchase it outright on a 0% credit card though.

iPhone for me, they just work and as I have Apple TV and a mac integration is fantastic. Mrs has one two so free texts and as my extended family live in another part of the country I can FaceTime every weekend free too. I understand some don't like the Apple ethos but they do just work, work well and do everything I need them too efficiently. Sent from my iPad
