Koh Gen Doh

Not sure if this post is the right place...feel for to move it.

A friend of mine gave me a sheet of koh gen doh to try. Have tried the ordinary organic cotton which I'm happy with, have tried the rayon which I also like..possibly slightly better. This however I think is the cleanest vape I've ever had. It gives plenty of vapour and the taste I think is much better. I can only describe it as a smoother vape without the cotton taste which I usually get when I first recoil. Certainly no dry hits at the moment...it's wicking really well. Reading up on it, it is supposed to be easier to work with..I have to say I didn't find this so but practise makes perfect. Just thought those of you considering buying it would be interested.

If it's any help seeing my friends bag there is way too much for one person. She has 80 sheets...each sheet you split in half ( from the depth of it..effectively giving you 160 ) then I would say from one half sheet you'll get about 5 wicks done. She is going to split her bag between myself and two other friends so it will only cost us £4 for 20 sheets= which should work out about 200 wicks. It's definitely the way to go for some of you to split a bag

I would suggest that there is no need to split in half, you do not need to. Just cut a thinner slice

I would suggest that there is no need to split in half, you do not need to. Just cut a thinner slice

You've misunderstood what I mean. Of course you can cut off a small slice but it would be too thick. I'm wondering have you seen what a piece of ko gen doh looks like ? Think of it like a sandwich..with 2 slices of bread, take off one slice, its thinner ...in the case of the cotton pad it is then about the right thickness to go through the coil.

I've ordered some too, and to be totally totally honest I'm not expecting to notice too much of a difference .

I've tried silica , cotton in most of its guises ,bamboo wick and I've come to the conclusion that when it comes to natural fibres it's your build / weapon of choice which makes the difference .

Don't mind being proved wrong but I'm sure I'm at a point where I'd be very hard pushed to notice a big difference in vape quality due to wicking material.

I have been using Koh Gen Doh. It is best if you do not pull the pads apart as keeping it whole ensures the fibres stay in line. You only need to cut the pad length ways to the size required. I have just re-wicked a Naturevape coil using a 3mm. strip of KGD, fits perfectly

I hear what @purple1234 is saying, I also think it's important that the wicking material is as pure as possible, it seems KGD ticks that box.

Not seen KGD first hand but Greigster has a point about the fibres laying straight, that would make for better wicking, one fault in cotton wool imo

It seems a pity to damage the lay of the fibres by splitting and it would be very difficult not to damage the perfect fibre alignment by doing so. The whole idea for me is "ease of use". One single cut to the width required, I dipped the end in a drop of water and rolled it between thumb and finger then fed it through the coil, trimmed.....jobs a good un.
It does taste cleaner, clouds as good as Rayon, non of the pulling and tugging to get the fibres to the correct density as with cotton wool and I reckon I get 20+ wicks from one pad.
