This is just a taster and by no means the best sample, there is a feast of Maru on YouTube:

He's a Scottish Fold Honestly, if anyone (who loves, likes, or even "tolerates" cats) doesn't know what to do with themselves, there is a quiet wealth of awws and giggles there.

I've just been watching a few more of them Scylla Hadn't realised he was a Scottish fold, as his ears aren't folded forward. I actually think the "straights" of the breed, like Maru, look far better

Andrew, Scottish fold are known for their folded over ears (it was bred into them) However, even if they carry the gene that causes the folded ear, some never develop it - from Wiki - All Folds are born with straight, unfolded ears, and those with the Fold gene will begin to show the fold usually within about 21 days. The kittens that do not develop folded ears are known as Straights. Because these cats are still bearers of the gene it is not recommended to use them for breeding with a Fold. [1] The original cats only had one fold in their ears, but due to selective breeding breeders have increased the fold to a double or triple crease that causes the ear to lie totally flat against the head. “ The breed's distinctive folded ears are produced by an incompletely dominant gene that affects the cartilage of the ears, causing the ears to fold forward and downward, giving a cap-like appearance to the head. Smaller, tightly folded ears set in a cap-like fashion are preferred to a loose fold and larger ear. The large, round eyes and rounded head, cheeks, and whisker pads add to the overall rounded appearance. Despite the folded ears, folds still use their aural appendages to express themselves—the ears swivel to listen, lay back in anger and prick up when the treat bag rustlesen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scottish_Fold

Yep Andrew, Maru is a "Straight" Scottish Fold Apart from the ears (so prefer to see the straight ones), everything else points to him being a Fold & just found this as well on Wiki - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maru_%28cat%29Got to admit, I don't like any breed of any kind that has been manipulated IMHO it always results in physical or mental problems.

Similar probs in the dog world. Looked healthy though and lots of character.

Similar probs in the dog world. I know Andrew &think it's awful that due to how a human wants a certain animal to look like it's caused so many problems with so many breeds Just for instance, the GS hip problem (yep I know they have now taken steps to resolve it), the persian cat & several breeds of dogs with breathing problems due to the squashed face look etc The only problem with the Scottish Fold as far as I know is ear problems due to the inbred "fold". Hence why I think Maru looks so much better because he has straight ears. This is such a lovely video of him -

Smaller, tightly folded ears set in a cap-like fashion are preferred... Sounds like Dr Mengele had a hand in it > Talking of him, many (not all) animal breeders should be exterminated. Just looking at that video makes me warm and smiley, in spite of the vile practices we've touched on here
