hey all... so question about wire sizes both kanthal and nichrome: so if I have some .20 wire (either composition) does that '.20' refer to .20 of a millimetre? or another measurement? and how do I convert that '.20' into a gauge (AWG seems the most used) - and will that gauge conversion be the same for both kanthal and nichrome of the same .20 wire? does that make sense? TIA

weirdly I was just reading up on that --- confuses me endlessly too. I know my .25mm is 32awg
that was from 'wireandstuff' where I normally order mine from

AWG is also based on the thousands of an inch measurement (though a different ratio to SWG) but since the Americans still use inches it has stuck around and is still used today.
