nexus 2012 owners do not update to lollipop.

I have a 2012 Nexus 7 (wi-fi) tablet and a 2013 Nexus 4 phone no sign of the update on mine yet ???

OK I have had a play around.
Mine is the 2013 nexus 7.
After updating to lollipop everything slowed down, even start up was taking ages, and many things no longer worked.
Checked it properly today and noted the faults.
One thing no longer working was Fifa, so I removed Fifa, and everything seemed OK, however I popped Fifa back on and everything went wonky again.

The biggest problem with this update is the apps - App devs are not updating their wares quick enough to make them compatible with android 5. If you have updated and are suffering from a slow tablet then try removing some apps till you find the culprits then re-install them when they've been updated.
You'll just have to make do without these apps in the meantime or find other similar ones to tide you over

It made a right mess of my nexus 5. Flippin awful. Notifications from Viber and Whatsapp making the screen strobe and completely crash. Mute all sounds has gone..

Luckily, my spanky new Galaxy note 4 arrived on thursday morning so the nexus has been retired to the cupboard where old phones go to die. I hope Samsung do a good job of making it work properly.

Locked down to apple is never a good solution
The freedom of open source is far more appealing.

Apple build quality is normally great though I will admit and their units would be desirable if you were allowed to use them to their full potential without jail breaking them

My mates 6 year old has ipod, I-touch, Ipad mini, ipad, and now I-pad air I hate all of em, getting her a laptop for xmas.

apple is what apple is a business and it do ruddy well at getting the most pennies outa peps
my fave thing peps say about macs is they dont get virus,s omg lol they do they just dont work on a mac but can be passed on without knowledge

i have the note 3 and looooove it what do the note 4 bring new to the table or should i just wait for the next one
had an original note when they came out and my mum has it now but the 3 gig of ram on the note 3 do half make a big diff how much has the 4 got

I find it very odd when young kids have this much expensive tech, even it its parents old hand me downs.

I would give them a sock with a small orange and a bit of coal in it for xmas

I've had my macbook for almost 4 years. No probs

Got it when in debt cos I was paranoid about windas and I couldn't for the life of me put linux on my netbook.

I have a friend who has a 10 year old macbook with a fossilized IOS. Still does the job for her

Back in the day macs were fab....

Now they're made of cheap stuff I'm not so sure..

Phone wise?

Cheapie android 4.2 from amazon. Had it a few months. Made a sock for it. (cos I couldn't buy one for the life of me) - sorted

Tablet I got from the chemist on prescription. Take it twice a day

I haven't used the Note 3 so can't compare. The screen on the 4 is incredible, DisplayMate ( www.displaymate.com/Galaxy_Note4_ShootOut_1.htm ) do in depth testing and say that it has the best screen of any other phone out there. I think it has 3 gig ram - but it looks like 2 gig is used already without having much else open. I haven't noticed any of the awful lag that people claim to have - I think they are just being over critical. I don't know how much I'll use the s-pen or multi window stuff much but it's cool to have it there if i want it. The camera is great in bright light, but a bit grainy in the dark. I think the thing that impresses me the most is the battery life - i have 1 day 9 hours on one charge with 14% left - reading news, texting and calling a little but, but not constantly. It also feels like a quality piece of kit in your hand thanks to the metal frame around the edge - it's got sharp edges so you feel that you have a secure grip on the thing.

You can always wait for the next one, then the next one and never end up being happy. I was erring over this and the nexus 6 then plumped for the note as I couldn't wait. The day after I found out the nexus is up for pre order... To be honest, I'm extremely happy I went with the Note. If you buy it off contract, you can always get the next model next year - after all, Samsung have a rocket up their butts to change things due to poor sales.

I think most manufacturers will now make phablets to compete so the whole market could change, but hey, who knows
