Public Health Minister Jane Ellison said: ‘Data published today shows that the number of smokers continues to decrease and is now at its lowest level ever. We met our target of reducing smoking levels in England two years early and are encouraged that the first smoke free generation is within reach.’

'Glitzy, glamorous cigarette packets'............those with pictures of diseased lungs and cancerous tumours then?

ah well, at the very least it restates that ecigs don't 'normalise' smoking (whatever that means) and the stunning observations about who smokes the most.............


edit, and the idea that wearing a foul smelling mask while you sleep stop you smoking 'for several hours afterwards' is one of the most ludicrous things I've heard in a long, long time. It'll probably cure the obesity epidemic as well

Ummm, errrrr........."their target"    wouldn't that be something more to do with e-cigs rather than any of their anti-smoking paraphanalia.

E-cigs have produced these figures all on their own, with no help from the anti-smoking lobbyists, government, health officials and whoever else!!!!

There was a bit in todays Sun about that, but I love this bit at the end and I quote,
"Meanwhile Data showed that e-cig users are almost entirely current or ex-smokers. it disproves the concerns that they are a gateway to smoking"

Why didn't they just ask us in the first place? we've been telling them that all along,
