Rip is such a Hana Modz whore, lol. Pretty good information though, especially about not using Kanthal on the DNA40. Just ordered a batch of nickel wire ready for my Vaporshark.

After having no problems at all with the resistance of coils this one is plying up. Same wire and length as my others came out 0.23 ohms when all the others were about 0.1 Ohm less. And they are varying up to 0.49 Ohms in use. As you can see the wires are well in contact with the posts and fastened down tightly. Best so far has been exactly the same coil 0.20mm twisted, 2.5mm Dia, 7 wraps .015 Ohm contact coil in a Spheroid. I use the temp control to tune the vape, setting the power to an arbitrary 25w and then let the device do the regulating. It is a pita having to lock and unlock each time though. El Toro Guevara tasted really good at 410f and gave an excellent vape. I did a singe test on KGD and found slight burn marks at high 400's but could smell burning at 460-470f so using 450-460 as a max for KGD. Here is a pic of my twisted 0.20mm and 0.236mm with about 1mm pitch. Overall I'm pleased with the rDNA40 but I'm not going as overboard as some, the Squape on my rDNA30 was a better vape than my KF 3.1 Ni build with the same juice. It may well take a while to get the best out of it though.

Got some 29 AWG nickel wire coming from Crazy Wire. Will that do the trick?

Got some 29 AWG nickel wire coming from Crazy Wire. Will that do the trick? 9 wraps 2.5mm Dia 0.14 Ohms but who knows???? Just built a new coil to replace the one posted above, same as I've done before when I got 0.15 Ohms and this one reads all over the place. I've checked and tightened as much as I dare. It's been fine on a KF and Spheroid but I think Ni and the SqaupeR just don't get on.

@scooby you could try giving the wire a good clean and maybe a light sand with fine wet and dry before twisting as you have tried all the other sensible actions, maybe washers would help, does it work with non twisted?

VapingBad I cleaned the wire with IPA then a good rinse with water and dried before twisting. Haven't tried non twisted on the Squape, first go with it but everything I've put on the KF and Spheroid has worked as expected Reading 0.45 Ohms now and gone off temp control to showing volts, must be above the resistance for temp sensing.

A bit misleading maybe the betas were completely different, but you can't use Kanthal in temp mode, but I have not tried a very low resistance Kanthal build as their is no point with variable wattage. I don't think he understands it very well although he has managed to learn how to use it. Ignore his remarks about building on the device that must have changed since beta, you can always trick it into recalibrating by disconnecting the atty, pressing fire then refitting the atty which should be a room temp (lowest ohm reading). I build on my DNA ant turn the temp to 600° F pulse to check for shorts and bad hot-spots, then turn temp limit off and pulse again to finish setting to coils, then turn temp limit back on and let the atty cool (which you have to do if wicking at this point).

IIRC I got it dropping out of temp control with a geni that was probably shorting in the first few days, I think blakey got a good build with nickel.

Back on the rDNA 30 now, been farting around with this for a few hours and just want a beer and vape now I'll sure I'll sort it out tomorrow. What resistance does TP cut out? I read somewhere it was 0.22 Ohms.

Yes, I got a decent build in the squape r - about 6 wraps around a 3mm bit You must make sure that you have solid connections or you will jump out of temp control and if you leave a gap between coils then make sure they all have gaps, if you make a micro coil then make sure that there is absolutely no gaps between any of the coils. Failure to achieve any of this in either coil type will result in shorts or hotspots which will drop you out of temp control.

Yep ticked all those boxes blakey but the way it's jumping around it must be one of them. Will have another go tomorrow. Meanwhile the beer and Spheroid on the rDNA40 are good company
