Help win Decent Jobs for Amazon Workers

While you are all merrily shopping at Amazon, spare a thought for the workers at this time of year. 

In Amazon the minimum wage has become the maximum wage for most temporary staff, who cannot get enough hours of work and live in fear of losing their job. Few can make ends meet without claiming ‘in work’ benefits while they work for Amazon.



In the last three tax years for which information is known Amazon has paid only £4.24m tax on £10.82bn sales: a tax rate of less than 0.5%. Yet at the moment the company is heavily subsidised by taxpayers in making up their employees' low wages through Tax Credits and Housing Benefit.



Can you help? In partnership with GMB, the TUC are running a petition calling on Amazon to work with union members in their temporary workforce to get a job guarantee contract that treats staff with respect and gives them security at work without the need to claim ‘in work’ benefits.

Great post, I'm guilty of having bought of off Amazon lately but unfortunately no one else had said item.
99% of the time I try avoid them like the plague for this very reason.
Along with sports direct as well ( zero hour contracts are simply evil )
