Ok Help! I have a daft question and thats why it's in beginners and no doub't it's already answered here somewhere, all my tanks are single coil, but I've just invested in a couple of Orchid V6 RTA's from FT, (still waiting) but I'm lost with coils, I know you can run the Orchid with one coil but I'm going for two, if I just put in one 1.25ohm coil it's a straight 1.25 ohm reading, but if I put in two 1.25 coils, will it still give me 1.25ohms or as there are two will it give me a 2.5ohm reading, I'm going to be using the pre-made 1.25ohm wires from FT, no matter how much I try I just can't get to grips with these Ohm things, I usually vape everything on 1.8 ohm coils at 7w, but as I understand it that all changes with RTA's and I might have to up the watts/volts for a better vape,

I think it halves it... Doesn't it?
So you would end up with a final resistance of 0.625

mowjo - one coil will of course give you 1.25ohm, but two of the premade coils will give you .625ohms - dual coils halve the ohms, not double as you surmised. EDIT: jackcustard - beat me to it (but at least we came up with the same answer!)

mowjoWith dual coil atty, from what I recall is the total coil wattage is halved...........that is, 2.00ohm X2 would give 1.00ohm there fore if you use 2 x 1.25 ohms your total is going to be 0.65 ohms..........Sub ohming!! I'm fairly sure that's how it works..........I prefer to stick to single coil, not as heavy on juice consumption (I'm a tight sod)!!

There are many useful ohm/resistance calculators on the Web, I use Steam Engine who also do a useful android app, Cloud.Box is another useful android app for coil building and juices. I'm sure you will know the golden rules about battery loading and testing for shorts. Good luck! you have a while to learn if you are waiting for fast (slow) tech!

Thanks folks! I should have known nothing is straight forward with Vaping, my brain was telling me two coils double the Ohms, but I think I just found a problem! I'll be using the Orchids on my 20w Isticks, will it fire at 0.65ohms or will I just have to use one coil? and order some 2.4 or 3.6 premade wires to get above the 1.0ohm I believe is the lowest the Istick will fire at???

As far as I am aware the Orchid V6, if it is similar to the V3 and V4 is difficult to wick unless you have two coils fitted. You may need to plug up one of the air holes to stop it leaking. In the V3 and V4 versions It's quite critical to the performance to get the wicking just right. A tiny tail of cotton or rayon just down the juice channel and they work well. search Youtube for reviews/builds as there are plenty of vids on there.

Thanks Syd! I have been through all the reviews and stuff so I have plenty of leakproof ways to wick, apparently most of the leak probs are solved with the V6 because of the raised air holes apart from that I think it's the same as the V4, my main concern now is if it will fire up at 0.650 ohms on my I sticks, the link Jack put on is handy as it seems I can add a different ohm coil as well as the 1.25ohm to bring it up to over 1.0ohm, I might just try it with one coil untill I can get the right ones, I really need to learn to make coils, but I'll need a euro coiler and the rest of the stuff to start, so I'll soon have another question on what I'll actually need to make some as I have no idea about wire gauges, how many wraps to make coils that will come out around 1.5 with two coils,,,

You will want two identical resistance coils otherwise one will get hotter than the other. The minimum a 20w iStick will fire is 1ohm so you will need to make 2x2.0ohm coils to get a final 1ohm resistance. If you're shooting for a final 1.5ohm resistance then you will need 2x3.0ohm coils.

Droog! will these be Ok! most of my ready made coils are 1.8ohms, if I have it right two of these will give me 1.8, Authentic Kanthal A1 Nichrome Pre-Coiled Wires (50-Pack) 3.6ohm / 0.2mm dia. (32 AWG) / 15*15mm leads

In all honesty mate if that tank can be single coiled then that is what i would do. I single coil all my tanks and i don't have the problem of my devices not being able to fire low ohm builds, i have boxes that will fire 0.2ohm builds. I single coil my tanks purely because it's a whole lot less faffing about, i even single coil my drippers if single coil is an option.

Cheers Droog! I'm not into subing, as long as it taste good I'm happy, and as a few have pointed out the juice consumption rockets, I'll stick with the single 1.25ohms for now, but I will give the duels ago when I get aroung to making my own coils,,
