All wired up and ready to go in. Just got the buttons to make, couple or three lids, a bit of a tidy up and run over the exterior. The buttons may be challenging, quite a fine tolerance I think.

Yep letsavit photo's not a sharp as it could be but there are 2 x 2mm studs and rails, it'll be clamped with a sandwich of .5mm carbon fibre and a small piece of silicon baking sheet, you'll like that....it's blue. Buttons also going to be carbon fibre. Thought I'd broken the back but there still seems to be lots to do. Also how does such a small job generate so much mess about the place?

On the home leg now that the actuating buttons are in, 4mm carbon for the wattage, cut from a redundant kite strut and 10mm for the fire. I decided a flush fire would have a nice feel and suit the 'hair trigger' nature of the on board fire button. So I shaped and thinned a stainless steel M10 annular washer and epoxied it in place.

Thanks for that @paulo and yes I'm very pleased. My first attempt left something to be desired so I decided to pull out all the stops on this one. It's taken a lot longer than I expected, (I've still got lids to make yet) mainly because I walk away from it when I'm getting fed up or frustrated

Thanks you all for the kind words, i did a little jig and had a grin like a Cheshire cat when I fired it up for the first time, in fact still do. Started on a mahogany lid letsavit but was tired and fecked it up. I think I'll concentrate on life and other things then start on the wood lids afresh. Tried a slightly different finish on this one.

Had to do some minor repairs due to slightly sticky buttons, teach me to use kite struts with stainless washers epoxed to them. A trip to my new found machinist friend and 4 pints latter I had a pair of these: Almost finished a couple of new battery doors, just got to do the final burnishing when the shellac has hardened off a bit more. Keeping them well out of reach of the dog this time I liked the black buttons but brass is attractive also: Eclipse MkII minus guts. Wanted a powder coat finish on this but the guy doing it wasn't happy with the results, even after two attempts. I decided to leave it bead blasted and gave it a few clear coats as i didn't know how durable the surface would be. Not much different really but will probably make some minor changes inside. Even after making sure the poles of the magnets were properly arranged I somehow managed to feck it up and not all the doors are interchangeable Must have just posted in the jinxed thread or even just looked at it before I stuck them in
