Well, vapejam
Doors opened at 12 and ole blakey duly walked up the hammersmith road from the tube station and joined onto a queue that resembled a chuffing train, there were great plumes rising up from the cloud chasers as the queue meandered it's way through the main doors
masses of different scents to invade the noses of any poor sod standing down wind, I'm a vaper and I was pi$$ed off with it! but I thought it must at least be the right queue
12:45hrs and I finally got through the door only to be taken to one side and have my shoulder bag searched, fair enough - these places can't be too careful.
Directed off towards a couple of lifts that were to take us up to the 1st floor, about 20 of us were crammed into that lift and thankfully everyone of us had respect enough and resisted the urge to have a puff. The lift doors opened and we walked out into what can only be described as a fog
1st thing I saw was Mr.busardo in deep conversation with someone and getting his picture taken with a fan- I'm sure he died his hair for the uk trip
The vaping greek was close by talking into a camera. I never got a chance to speak to either of them.
I started making my way towards the stalls and stands and bumped into dave dorn, I said hello Mr Dorn, shook his hand and went on about my business. That's 3 people who I enjoy watching on youtube so I thought great start.
Then I started walking round all the stalls at a quickish pace with the sole intention to find a dna40 squonker and at the same time making a mental note of the stands I would want to revisit, noticed that suicide bunny were giving away freebies and dutifully stopped and got a bag of samples of what seems like their entire range - result
good job I stopped cos in about 60mins they had been cleaned out and were shutting up shop:o
Found an Italian fella with a small stand and he was displaying a stunning little wooden DNA40 box squonker, it was just slightly larger than an RDNA -it was a work of art and I wanted it there and then.
No chance, he was taking orders and they were going to be selling for 360 euros
My kneecaps started itching at the thought but if he had any on that stall I would've bought one there and then - even at that price
There were no other squonkers anywhere apart from the vaporflask dna40 squonker from uk-ecigstore, I couldn't resist
I started going round again at a slower pace reading all the descriptions of flavours on the different stands and sampling the ones that looked appealing, then I realised that what was available was 99% juice vendors and very little in the way of hardware. Uk-ecigstore had a decent range on display and di-codes danny had their range, one vendor had a few pipes on display, vaporshark had their gear and my italian fella with his squonk boxes, everything else was juice. A slight exaggeration but that's how it seemed.
Loaded with samples and a couple of spare shark skins I bumped into
Bob, he was the only person I recognised apart from
philmepowers who was busy working
(sorry if I wasn't too chatty bob, head was splitting tbh
)
I went round again for a third time, just in-case I missed anything - nope
Wandered around for a while to see if I could recognise anyone - nope
Looked at the queues in the kitchen cos I was getting a little peckish and thought sod that, had enough of queues!
So I thought - I've seen enough, sampled enough, I'm hungry - I'm off home. The time was 15:30hrs
All in all it was an enjoyable experience if a little short lived, it would've been great to see a few mod makers and a few attie makers- that's really what I was hoping for but for whatever reason they were largely absent.
I took 2 hours to get home on the tube and train, 30mins of that was standing in charring cross waiting because of station upgrade works at london bridge meant that charring cross trains weren't stopping there and it appears a reduced service was in place.
I'm sat here now, full of fray bentos pie and chips and admiring this vaporflask squonker at the same time vaping with the squonker that @windows built for me (beautiful piece it is too) and thinking - do I really want to be coiling up drippers to be tasting all these samples
Or do I just want to put my feet up and watch the last couple of episodes of 24 that I still haven't gotten round to watching
Vapejam was ok but for whatever reason there were a lot of vendors and modders that should've been there but weren't, and a lot of juice vendors absent too- whether they thought the cost of a stand was too high or there was some politics involved I don't know but a reasonably good experience would've been a great one had they all attended.
