A great way to get into the comfort zone with soldering is to get any old pcb and practice removing and adding back the components in the board. with an old busted board you can cock up all you want without any risk to the new expensive kit

Yep I've been having a play Greg I must admit you and me have chosen some very similar bits and bobs for the build. I've fitted the 510 and one of those 12mm switches and drilled and countersunk for the up/down button on the bottom of the mod, the hardest part so far was the hole for the screen, it's not bad but it's not perfect by any means but considering the most hi-tec piece of kit I have is a battery drill it's ok. Been getting some soldering practise and have realised I should have invested in a solder station like yours. It's going to be a tight fit in the box I chose but it'll be worth it.

I've learn't some things already like the fat daddy v4 would be better for this build as the top and bottom are thicker than the sides and some aluminium is pretty damn hard!! Dinky little box though, been experimenting with brushing it, took the technical approach and used a green pan scrubber lol.
If I get chance I'll post some more as I take them trouble is we go to Tenerife on saturday so the build might go on hold again for a bit, you should have yours finished by the time I get back.
