Anyone?

Hubby just came in after listening to something on the radio ( he doesn't know what station ) about ecig flavourings. Apparently they mentioned a study just come out about certain ecig flavourings ( not all ) damaging the cells in the lungs. He didnt catch which particular flavourings were the worst...did anyone else catch it ?

Didn't hear it but if I was a betting man I'd put a few quid on the old popcorn lung comparison !

What's that Greg? He said it was connected with juice that contains benzal something.( .all he could remember ) and vanillin,

Is that not old news just being repeated ? And what they are really getting at is Diactyl in flavourings which is minuscule compared to what we used to take in smoking!

The Antz must be running out of idea's if they keep spurting the same drival every few months, as info has been doing the rounds for at least the past year, and as far as I am aware the flavourings were then modified to remove the Diactyl.

Hubby said to be fair in general it was very positive for vaping...mentioned much safer than smoking...but by all accounts this is a very new study that states two ingrediants in certain flavourings , benzal something and Vanillin cause shortness of breathe. They did give the flavourings considered to do the damage but hubby didn't catch it.

Didn't hear it but given many of us are near ocd in terms of vaping studies it's not ringing any bells but will check and see if I can find anything. I wouldn't get too concerned at the moment and if anything bad was going on you'll quickly see it on here .

That sounds like it postmodernsmoking. I wonder if there are any flavours that don't contain those two ingredients?

Quite a lot of e-liquids don't include those 2 ingredients, but quite a few also do.

Postmodernsmoking does your knowledge extend to which ones do and which ones don't? I've given up smoking because I want to improve my health....not because I didn't like it ( I loved it ) ....if I can find a juice that doesn't contain those two ingredients I would change to it ...it makes sense.

For the range of FlavourArt flavour concentrates we hold individual MSDS's.

If concerned about vanillin and/or benzaldehyde, I can look it up for the flavour/s that you use, or are considering purchasing.

You could go one better Postmodern Smoking and list them here.

Looks to me as if vanillin is, surprise surprise, mostly an ingredient of vanilla flavours, and benzaldehyde is for cinnamon but may also be in almond flavours. If you believe Dr Farsalinos (and I'm inclined to) then the report is too alarmist, but if you have these as your main vape then you might like to change.

Hi giles , I would list them but it will involve opening and searching around 60 pdf files to do so.
If I get time I may do later.

Here's five so far: FA Butterscotch, FA Cookie, FA Hazelnut, FA raspberry contain (<5%) vanillin in the flavour concentrate; FA Black cherry contains (<5%) benzaldehyde .... according to the MSDS's. (By the time the concentrates are made into e-liquid, those percentages will be much reduced).

Note FlavourArt is one of the few (or only?) e-liquid flavour houses that have carried out cellular toxicity studies on many of their flavours, published on the FlavourArt Clearstream website (although the site appears to be down at present).
