The one tester of the HG2 I've been able to find in the 5 minutes I've been home doesn't rate them. I won't get my hopes up but having just ordered 2 for testing my fingers are somewhat crossed vaporsizer

The Samsung has been well recieved, however still only a few actual tests as yet. When I've showered I'll look into them a little more.

Suddenly there are loads of Sony VTC5s on Ebay all claiming to be genuine link. Have Sony got a plant up and running somewhere?. Ripshod do you think these really are the genuine article?

Sony's have a flat bottom, no ridge. This is a most obvious 'tell' but not the only one. The tops dont look right on these either.
The other ways are from how the printing looks and hard to do without being in your hand.
It will be hard to tell unless like this guy you show the box of fakes your trying to sell

The tops on these look good and are clearly not the same as the ones from his box, so I would say he got this Image from Sony website.

The only genuine ones that I know of are at ecoluxshop on ebay.

hijack we can't really judge from the photos used. They get recycled all over the place so they may well be genuine but unknowingly using photos of fakes, or vice versa - noone can say from images. I do doubt it though.

Always buy from trusted vendors. There's only 2 on ebay, ecoluxshop and torchy.

Spot on Ripshod most people selling fakes on ebay will have enough sense to get the pics from sony, but the bits I pointed out do indicate a box of fakes, whether its a pic of his box or not.

How about sigelei's 30/35amp 2500mah 18650s.. I'm not sure if they're 30/35 amp as I seen them on asmodus rated 35a but on sigelei's website they're rated 30 unless they're different batteries but there's no stating if this is continuos or pulse discharge?

Sigelei are a strange beast in the world of batteries. As they don't make their own then they have to be rewraps. But what of??

The specs they quote seems to fudge things for us. With the 30Amp 2500mAh cell is said to be a VTC5. We know how rare they are!!

However, as there is no 35Amp (supplier rated) cell available other than the purple eFest have they actually rewrapped the eFest and gone with the eFest rating of 35Amps, when it's actually a rewrapped 20Amp?

There are cells of dubious origin that I have deliberately left of the list for that reason. The Sigeleis are among those. I'll investigate further and find out what's happening.

ETA: The Sigelei 35Amp 18650 is indeed a rewrap. Under that wrapper is a Samsung 25R - 20Amp CDR.

The strange thing is the 30Amp cell has specs identical to the Sony VTC5 and the crimp at the top matches. Still not 100%, I'd need confirmation on that.

Why would Sigelei use a VTC5 for their 30Amp cell, but a Samsung for the 35Amp? Assuming a VTC5, they show some common sense with the 30Amp cell, then throw it out the window with the 35. I'll not be recommending either til I have confirmation on the sources,

BTW anyone seeing Authentic LG 18650HB2 3.6V 1500mAh Rechargeable Li-ion Batteries (2-Pack) on FT they list them as 30 A continuous, but they are only 22 A according to lygte.

sydsut, the 35Amp 18650s are obviously rewrapped 20Amp cells. Sorry, obvious to me as there are no 35Amp 18650s out there atm and an as yet unknown name (Shockli)

The 26650s are good though, seem to be rewraps (as are the Imrens and Keepowers) - but remember 30Amps continuous.

I don't know how others feel about it, but torchy is losing favour with me by quoting the pulse ratings. Prefer to deal with Norbert who actually makes some effort to test and publish the results for all he sells.
