Nextgen RTA help

Ok so this is my first genie atty so i knew the would be a learning curve but its kicking my arse.

All im getting when i try anything is shorting, even if i put no mesh and just wire between the brass nut at the top and the positive screw in a test, it shorts out.

Any ideas?

Does it still short with no wire? (y = faulty atty)
What is the resistance on a metre with the wire fitted?

Short with no wire and just sitting on the atty.
Just the wire checked out at 1.1Ohm on my ubertoot, then swapped over to the nextgen and showing short.

Something wrong with the nextgen or how the 510 connects some poor combinations can short, but it is unusual.  I would take it apart and put it it back together again to check everything is in it's right place maybe an insulator is in wrong or something.

can you not break it down even more then the last pic? if you can try that and then reassemble again, worth a try

Not sure, looks like the 510 is press fit, was thinking it could be loose mesh inside somewhere, but it looks clear and cant seem to adjust the 510 or remove it.

I will take it to work and have a go there.

am positive the original can be broken down fully, not sure about thr clone though, hope you get it sorted

was looking forward to gettin 1 of these.

Too add it would be worth checking with a multimeter for continuity (ie short) off the device between 510 pos pin and the neg  .

I have both the FT and gearbest version. The gearbest is so much better. I have given up in the FT and keeping it for spares.

The threading is better and I think the dimensional accuracy is better. Some things I noticed:

The non threaded section of the centre post seems shorter on the FT. Perhaps the threads went down too much. If you want to do 4/5 wraps it makes a difference.

The entire post/deck assembly unwinds itself far too easily in my FT version. The best gear only needed a nudge and don't come out now when I unscrew the inner sleeve.

The biggest one for me. I received the FT version first. I had shorts on the top and bottom in every build. When I got the other one the problem was gone, it's minimal adjustments. Not sure why to be honest.

The draw on the FT is tighter, even on the bigger holes.

Glass tank. On FT one I have to do a lot of effort. Maybe its the orings I did not try yet, the other one is smooth. Not loose but smooth coming out.

Aesthetically the gearbest version has got the outer sleeve brushed.

Please don't take this as me putting FT down. It just happened that I received both in a short space of time and they are different.

I hope it makes sense., I am pretty crap at trying to explain these things on the forum.
