@spikeyfridge my thumb is getting a whole lot better, I'm beginning to be able to grip things now, by the end of the week I should be good to go again, given your current lack of coils, I will get the ones iv've got back to you in the early part of next week.

Brilliant prr I can't understand how I broke the base. Seems the bottom metal pin is stuck in it and I can't get it out. Might try boiling it, then smacking it with my cure all/fix all rolling pin

Pain in the backside for you prr so stop sticking your thumb in your bum! Seriously, you never realise how useful and how much you need your thumb til you can't! Glad you're on the mend. Don't rush and cause more damage on my account. Tisnt worth that

apparently if he uses ky he shouldn't hurt it so much and the thumb will be fine apparently (never tried it tho)

Probably my lot of coils caused the damage! Oh the guilt. I'll have to come and nurse you prr and bring a lorryload of coils for you

prr you're a genius!!!! I just took the bottom pin out, had a go with a tool and broken bit came out so I think the base is saved!

Not at all @spikeyfridge, no sympathy gathering here but some years back when I was a copper I was working in Paignton when I saw a woman being assaulted, essentially the t-at that was hitting her didn't really like facing a very large rugby playing police officer, don't think he had the balls for that. He drew a knife and I caught his elbow and twisted but unfortunately I missed the wrist and the knife sliced through the base of my thumb and my palm, it severed muscle and tendon. Over the years the tendon became really slack, so my thumb began dislocating at the base for England. I could put it back in most of the time. Anyway now they've shortened the tendon and the thumb actually feels quite strong.
