Hate El Toro............it just tells Me how far I've got to go wiv My home-brew efforts!!
I'm no expert on building the Next-Gen either...I'm still on the coil/wick that I put in it when I got it, several weeks ago....fluked it!!! Used just enough mesh to go round the pos. post & then slipped a 2mm, 1ohm, 26 gauge kanthal coil over it. Think 'tiny' when You build it as there's no room at all 'twixt the wick & the neg. post....& the screw's minute too!!

That's why I say I fluked it!....it just worked, straight off! Bet it don't when I re-build!!!!!!

glen ..how You getting on wiv the Next-Gen?
I've taken My coil & wick off (would've probably dry-burned ok, but the positive wire capture screw was BLACK!...) I don't know if the pin-like positive pin will clean up......it looks about 10 years old!!!! Leaving it soaking in IPA whilst I hit the road over the w/e.....
This was meant to be My 'out & about' tank tho'!

Well yourgurnard, ive just been getting a load of shorting, build the coil put it on the atty and then it shorts, but I haven't given up yet, still got at least ten sheets of mesh I can butcher yet lol

Are You wrapping the coil round the mesh or making the coil separately & then dropping it down over the wick?....
.Does it short out if You fit a coil sans mesh?....
Make sure that coil &/or wick don't touch the neg. screw....there ain't hardly a micron of clearance!

Been wrapping the coil round the mesh, just going to take a bit of practice, but after three shorts on the bounce I found it better to put it away and calm down, your idea of a stiffener could be the answer lol

Wrapping round the wick works well if you have a ss rope core but can be a little harder with mesh tubes and stiff wire, have a butchers hook at this video glen.
