It's a good job the banner showing how much I have saved doesn't show how much I have spent at Fasttech.

Did you include your rebate points and the $0.15 worth per review?

We will at this rate. VapingBad. Bugger that they put the review rate down. I was doing well until they did that.

The only problem I really have dagl, is that I look at the total saved and think, shit I should have done this 40 years ago. But I forget vaping hadn't been invented then. Having said that I must admit that I enjoyed smoking, even knowing it was doing me harm. Now I am enjoying vaping, and it is doing not just my health good for a change, and even though I seem to be ordering stuff from China, I am saving money, so something is going right.

I know it's a bit sad, and I'm sure I'll grow out of it, but, in the name of keeping an eye on the dreaded shinyitus (well, not that dreaded and very enjoyable, really) I have been keeping track of how much I've spent on vaping compared to how much I would have spent on ciggies. I have bought three box mods, 3 emow type batteries, about 11 tanks (with only half delivered!), 6 batteries for the mods (posh ones), a mixing starter kit, stuff for building coils, a half dozen concentrates, what looks like a 20 year supply of Japanese cotton, and enough juice to have a bath in it (oh, and FAR TOO MANY replacement coils). 66 days in and the net gain is still £154.89p. Then again, towards the end, I was spending an AWFUL lot on ciggies... Must sort out one of them 'vaping since' banners. (It's sydsut 's fault I got shinyitus, he posted about a really good value Athena box mod, I got one and I haven't been the same since....)

(It's sydsut 's fault I got shinyitus, he posted about a really good value Athena box mod, I got one and I haven't been the same since....) Don't grow out of it - I've been keeping an excel spreadsheet since I started vaping and it's one of the things that has really helped me seeing all the savings I've made. My shineyitis has now slowed a bit however it's been really useful seeing that even when I do think I've gone a bit OTT on mods or juice that its still a lot less than I would have sent up in smoke with nothing to show for it previously. Although I was on 40 a day when smoking I've deliberately set the weekly "what I would have spent on stinkies" to 20 a day on the grounds that I would have had to cut my spending to that anyway as I couldn't have afforded to keep spending that kind of money, I also make sure every single penny I spend on vape related purchases is recorded on the sheet including post & packing charges. When the price of ciggies goes up in the budget I do up the weekly "not spent" amount to reflect it as I know damned well I wouldn't have quit any other way and therefor would have had to bear that extra cost. Over the past 16 months of vaping I would have spent at least £3906.18 on stinkies instead I have spent £678.34 on equipment and £545.87 on eliquid, and I have still saved £2681.97 I have loads of stuff I could sell or trade if I wanted and a ton of juice for swaps or give aways. It also means that I don't tend to have to think "can I afford this new shiney thing I fancy?" because the fact is that of course I can given how much I am saving every week. Instead its more a case of "just how many tanks/mods/drip tips do you actually need? and where the heck are you going to keep them?" The spread sheet also shows me that my shineyitis is now under control and my spending has slowed considerably from the first few months and has settled into an average spend of around £10 a week there's even been a month or 2 with NO spending *gasp* When my husband suggested keeping a spreadsheet to me I went along with it initially to humour him and to show him that even though there were padded envelopes and lots of boxes arriving here almost daily I was still saving him money, but as I watched the savings side grow it's become a great way to reaffirm just how brilliant it's been to make the switch to vaping and thats without the health benefits which are priceless!!

Okay I admit it. My figure of £2148 spend on Fasttech was a bit tongue in cheek. I just went and added up all my purchases from Fasttech since I started vaping and they come to less than £200. I don't keep track of my spending at all, but I know that I'm saving money even with buying fancy mods, which so far I have yet to purchase one over £50. Between the two of us we went through nearly 4 x 50g packs of tobacco a week. So 2 packs each. That works out to over £30 each, every week. There is no way I am spending that amount of money. and the real figure is probably nearer £10 per week when it's averaged out. But the little padded envelopes keep coming, and that's the exiting part about vaping. By the time I get them I've forgotten what I ordered. So it's a bit like Christmas every week.

This thread has made me realise that vaping is way more expensive than smoking for me. We used to smoke cheaply by getting fags & baccy in Belgium. Then 18 months ago our younger son, Pete, started vaping. We followed and worked our way from starter kits to better gear and bought liquids to DIY. So now Angie & Pete spend nothing on vaping. I supply them with liquids, recoiled heads & wick. Another cost for me was that I had become a 'Vaping Evangelist'. If someone said "Does that stuff work?" I talked them through it and if they wanted to try gave them a kit, from our early days, and some liquid. Success rate was patchy. Now I've cut the cost down and increased the success rate by selling them an iStick 30W & a Nautilus Mini from our ridiculously large backup stock. I don't regret a penny of the thousands of pounds I've spent on vaping. I get huge satisfaction from 'converting' friends with the bonus that they sometimes come up with a gem for a mixing recipe. Not sure I'd feel the same way if I actually knew how much I've spent.

I have found giving people starter kit doesn't work as well as them buying it, I think they just put in more will power when they are out of pocket.

I just can't bring myself to sell them something I don't think is very good to prove the point.
At a weekly car boot I keep getting asked for Ego/Evod sticks and I'm going to sell our stash for a quid each to remove the temptation to conduct a social experiment.
