Brand New Nautilus Mini leaking significantly from airhole

Hi all. I posted about this in my beginner thread but thought I'd also post here for wider coverage as I can't find a specific topic about this as such.

Basically, I have a brand new Nautilus Mini (started using 2 days ago) and it has a significant leak from the air holes on the ring at the bottom....when I say significant, I am talking a loss of 0.5ml of juice every night overnight...I thought it was the bottom not screwed on tightly enough but I can see it is definitely coming from the airhole. I realise that some leakage is common in a new one for a bit but it seems that half a ml of juice every night is a bit too high (I am losing more juice in leakage than I am through vaping!!)? I have closed off the airhole for the last couple of hours and, while it has stopped it mostly, I can still see some juice appearing.

Is this high amount of leakage normal? I don't mind a bit of leakage if I know it's going to stop after a while but this amount seems too high. My concern is that it is faulty but, having no previous experience, I don't know what is normal or not. Any advice/reassurance would be appreciated. Thank you

Check the little o ring on the coil base just above the threads is there. Or that the old one is not lodged in the coil base.

I had the exact same issue with mine, two things I found that helped 1 was take the drip tip off, turn it upside down on its little stand unscrew the base remove the coil assembly use some kitchen towel and thoroughly dry it out especially on the threads, now blow through the air hole and then dry the base assembly again, screw the coil assembly in tight reattach to the tank, next I bought a second bendable drip tip which is about double the length mine hasn't leaked since

I understand that like most things it leaks because everything changes slightly when you use the atty and your supposed to upend it and retighten the coil assembly a few times and it will likely do the same thing every time you change the coil assembly, also don't tighten the tank unit to much you can screw the base on a long way but if you can see the chimney covering parts of the air holes is to much and your probably deforming the tank /base rubber, so you will need to loosen it off and if you pinched the thing then you might need to replace that seal, which you can get from here mind you they need replaceign form time ot time so a spare if you dontalready have one wont be a bad thing:)

After taking it apart, cleaning it, putting a new coil in and reassembling it, taking care not to over-tighten the bottom thread, there has been no sign of leaking for the last few hours so it looks like I did up the bottom part too tight. Will know for sure tomorrow morning when it has sat overnight (given that's when it's been most noticeable) but it's looking good so far

you know I didn't mean air holes ....I meant wicking holes but I guess anyone who's got one of these would realise that and chuckle, as a side note I've used mine for the last 4 days straight including having it sit in my jacket pocket for 6 hours today without a hint of leakage so I guess the biggest thing that changed the leaking aspect was not overtightening the base, but hey its a great atty once you get the knack of it, now I just need to figure out why the coil res has gone up each time I fill it, it maybe only by a tiny amount but i don't think its supposed to do that....

p.s. I find the rhubarb and custard flavour tastes great with a really nice after taste that lasts for about 5 mins every time I vape it on this, a complete change to the old atty I was using where it barely registered on the old buds

nanotm the coil res does go up on the Nauti stock coils the more you use them, it's the coil wicking getting saturated and clogged, once it goes significantly over the supposed res then it's time to change if the flavour has gone off a bit as well, I have yet to actually burn one of my stock coils but change mine when flavour drops off. However my re-coiled ones from smifee on here are spot on every single time, I am just using up a stash of stock coils that I have then won't bother buying any more and will just use my re-coiled ones.

TJ fair enough I wasn't sure, I had noticed some of my other atty's had gone up in resistance just before they started registering as no atty attached on the istick 30w, was going to say if that happens after a few days on a stock coil I cant wait for the vvtf unit to arrive because at a tenner a pack the missus will start moaning about the cost of the spares, best I don't let her know just how much all the bits cost

First reports on the RBA aren't good & I've given up on being an 'early adopter' having bought too much stuff that I then gave away or swapped.

For every 2 used heads you send me I'll send you 1 recoiled head and some cotton tape to wick them with.

Have to confess that I've never understood why so many folks love the Nautiilus so much I also had leaking problems with mine (the mini was better though). However, I so much prefer the draw on the Aerotank.

I may very well take you up on that kind offer, even if it works I might well take you up on it as it never hurts to have a couple of ready made coils on standby, if nothing else that's something I learned already, that and don't buy cheap atty's that look neat but have zero spares because you have to keep buying the same thing over and over or move on and its expensive compared to smoking that way round ....







Chrissie I suspect a big part of the draw of them is the price the quality of the build and the availability of spares within the UK, even the mini has a lot of places you can get most parts from and sites like amazon keep dropping its price if your a prime watcher (add it to the saved for later list and buy whenever its cheap) I picked up a mini for £7 and for another £2 got a pack of 5 coils, no idea why the price was that low but it went back to full price by the time my order confirmation email came through (I checked the card statement and they only billed me £9 mind you) maybe I caught it on a lightening deal or something/


anyway they should have released a video and had it hyperlinked to every vendor page for the tanks to explain about the leak issue with it 99% of the time being down to overtightening the bottom deck

i have 2 nautilus tanks and have had them since they come on the market.  the only leaking i get is when i get a rouge coil which isnt that often but others have reported leaking as a regular problem.  i only use the nautilus when out and about and with cheaper juice.  i use my kafun lite plus, subtanks and drippers for my more expensive juices.  coils can get expensive if replacing often hense the rebuildable tanks.  re building or re wicking on the go isnt an option so stock coil tanks are a convinient fix whilst out and about.

The combination of new coil and loosening the base somewhat seem to have cured the leaking issue as it has been sat overnight and there is no leakage signs whatsoever. I'm going to keep the old coil in the drawer as an emergency spare just in case that was the issue but I think it more likely it was just me over-tightening the base (I'm not one for doing something up loosely if it can be tightened a lot more!).

I'm exactly the same Chrissie I was so excited to buy my mini Nautilus even bought the fancy cage to go with it, but I just couldn't get on with it at all, draw too tight and muted flavour, so have stuck with my protanks and aero tanks and now added a couple of subtanks too - I just seem to get on with Kanger products.

I was Kanger for a long time, then I joined this forum and learned that oranges were not the only fruit.

Since being here I have tried:

and I have the UD Bellus Black (and I think a Billow II) currently milling around in the Chinese delivery vacuum.

I would honestly rate my Kanger subtank third from bottom of that list, it's a good tank but the others knock it out of the park.

I'm having the same problem with my Smok X-Priv. I suspect the leak is from the o-ring where the coil is screwed to the base of the tank. I opened and inspected it but it seems to be un-damaged. Any idea what to do?
