Just lever it up slightly all around with a cocktail stick or some such taking care not to lift it too much..
But it'll happen again if you tighten them down too much.
Just tighten carts finger tight enough to make a connection..

Serious mode.
I bought a Mod and the first atty I put into it was shorted. The atty was brand new in a sealed packet.
Massive overheating and the spring did it's job and shrank breaking the connection.
Upside is that the Mod is a purely mechanical one so after pulling the spring back up and replacing the atty I was good to go that said I now check every atty or cardo I put on any device and after feeling that heat have a whole new respect for the batteries we use.
That was an excuse for buying a couple of ProVari's that check for you and have a MultiMeter anyway.
I don't think the wife fell for it but she is American so it is possible !

Probably center pin has sunk a bit in the battery which does not work with the orange cartos because their center pins are deeper set. OMG Macca I don't know how you do it Seem to remember a thread on here somewhere about raising centre pins by, Kirsty i believe, off to have a look Thanks yeah I wrote a thread about raising center pins then broke two Riva's doing it, Macca brought them back to life . Hopefully you are more patient than me

Just be GENTLE when levering up the centre pin. It only needs to be pulled up a couple of millimeters. You are best using a non conducting tool, like a cocktail stick or something plastic just in case you press the button whilst doing it.
