Hi Folks been vaping for about 11 months now and off the cigarette, back about june last year I cut my forearm on a car only a little cut which healed ok, 2 weeks after got a little rash which got itchy and started to spread then clear up then rare back up and so on. So just before christmas went to doc said it was infected and prescribe me antibiotics for 7 days which was great but after the pills came back up, so back too doc and more tablets which were shit and did not do much its started clearing but is back. Doc has given me another 7 days of the 1st tablets and some cream to see if it will clears up. Have never suffered with any skin condition before and was thinking maybe down to my vaping, could be the PG has anyone else ever had any problems?

One would wonder why if it was vaping related, it's not over the whole of your body, rather in the same place that you've had a laceration?

I developed a PG sensitivity after 18months of vaping smokingaces . . . . they can happen at any time. Too much PG and I resemble something that's crawled from a crypt. It's a process of elimination to see what affects you - what are your current ratios? Have you been back to your GP since, just to check on your current outbreak?

Hi Perpetua, I have all different juices but try to stick with either 50/50 or 60/40, went to doctor on Tuesday this week but am not starting the tablets till monday. The outbreak is smaller this time and not as big did start on my other arm as a pimple became really itchy then just went but my left arm is where the problem is. Also I get mad itchy foot which I had before but this time is a lot worse. Think I might stop vaping for a few days and see if it clears then start the pills.

I have all different juices but try to stick with either 50/50 or 60/40 Those ratios would be enough to set a rash going for me smokingaces . . . . 30% PG is about as much as my system can handle. But we're all different and I was fairly certain that was the cause of my problems. Your own situation sounds a little different to mine? Think I might stop vaping for a few days and see if it clears then start the pills. If you can, that might be no bad thing . . . . and be guided by your GP.

Thanks for the reply Perpetua, have to decide to give the vaping a miss for a few days and then check on the rash, to be truthful if that the problem then will try a higher vg, or mix my own.

Hi smokingaces, sorry to hear about your issues. It can be a frustrating time, but its a good thing your paying attention and noticing these changes. Everything Perpetua has said is good advice and worth taking note of. I too found PG a problem after vaping for about 9 months. It happens so slowly and I didn't relate it to anything to start. It took me a while to realise it might be the PG, but when I switched to high VG it really helped. Mixing your own is a great way to control the process and understand what works and what doesn't. Since then, I have developed issues with flavours containing nasties in e.g. (Diacetyl, Acetyl Propionyl, Acetoin). Removing these has helped me once again (I seem to be a sensitive soul lol). This might not be an issue for you, many do not have issues with them (and love the flavour they bring), but might be worth considering as part of your process. It can be a real challenge to find out what might be the issue, then test these things one at a time. I have nearly given up a few times out of frustration. When you change something, it takes time to notice any response, if any. This makes the process even longer to find out if it has worked and you have to be disciplined during this process. In my experience though, it is well worth it to keep smoke free. best of luck on your journey.

Thanks Zippydodah…. will 100% stay smoke free, nearly a year now, not saying that even after a year I feel great did put on weight and my breathing not great even though my lung results from the doctors did not come out too bad. now its just a matter of getting to the gym to approve weight and breathing, all I know is that the smoking was doing far more damage than the vaping too me. The skin allergy has crept up slowly and was at its worse in November, going to try giving my vaping a miss for a few days and see how the rash is, its more the itchy skin than the rash. It may have nothing to do with the vaping, but having few days of and then mixing a heavy vg won't kill me and may answer the question.

Its bloody weird... some of this rash stuff. I have seen 3 odd events in 50 years.
1. Child with eczema, so all the old wives stuff was applied including urine - quite some years of it. Apparently the end of it came with not eating eggs. Could be age though?
2. I came home from work (UK) one day and for the next 3 days I was partly covered in red itchy skin..almost a Neapolitan effect. Went to doctor too late so he hadn't a clue. I put it down to a stray cat found in our offices over 2 or 3 days? Fleas and stuff.
3 My wife had an slight cut on lower leg and I think from scratching (sharp finger blades?). I applied Savlon (standard action) and boom ...very big rash for over 2 weeks. Went to chemist (Indian woman) and she said its far more dangerous (infections etc) here in the UK than where we had been in the M. East for 10 years. That was an intolerance to a Savlon component which surprised me.
Its that business of shopkeepers handling money that always sits in the back of my mind. And whats on public transport seats...some amazing awful substances actually!
I think it is a slow process of elimination with this game..as boring as that can be?
