How unlucky can you be?

If it turns out to be true, how unlucky can you be?  A new theory has been put forward for the crash of the Egypt Air plane in the Med.  It may have been hit by a meteorite.  Or at least a bit of one.  This story seems to stem from reports that a meteorite did crash into earth and break up, sending bits of it all over and in the Med area.  A few papers have picked up on this story.  This is the Daily Fail's version, but there are others.

If this proves to be true, and I must admit I'm a tad sceptical, what are the odds of a lump of rock from outer space hitting something as small as an aircraft?  The odds must be, out of this world, no pun intended, but I can't think of a better description.  These poor souls must be the most unlucky people ever.

At an occurrence (incident) classified as remote (1 in a Million +) I'd say very, very unlucky. Until the data and comms box info is released I'd ignore all guesses.

However...the pilot did not get an SOS out apparently. Thats a major concern!

And no group has claimed to have brought it down, so it is either an internal malfunction or.........

Grim, sad times for all the families and friends   . . . . whatever the cause, like the other recent air accident ' incidents '.

It must be a terrible thing to deal with, losing a loved one in such a way - without ever knowing the truth behind their death or having their remains returned.

Very difficult to have any sort of closure I'd imagine . . . . .

I just hope they find it. The Med is not that deep, and they know roughly where it came down.
