the mini volt and the elfin 40 would be 1000 times more desireable imo with swappable 18350s

you would probably bin that mod with a dead battery, but you can change a soldered in batteries it's just the cost of a replacement battery and all to often high P&P that makes it unattractive for cheap mods.  If they had a decent quality board and case it would be worth it, but as you say things like this, the coolfires and many others are effectively disposable, unless you can solder in an 18xxx battery which are cheap and readily available.
