Smy 75 mini

Hi

Has anyone found a fix for the SMY75 mini yet?

No I haven't, but I hope someone does, mine is in the drawer as I can't bear to part with such a nice mod albeit a broken one.

I passed mine onto bones3 and he says it is badly earthed throughout the mod - if that helps. That may not be the only fault because he is fitting a new board.

Yes I think it is a super looking mod, I got the wood one. Pity about the fault with it.

this is what he told me

a dna40 board with dna charger board

I am not clued up on electronics but if you PM him or tag him I am sure he will answer your question

Your Smy is stripped gill2009 and the board has been junked as the problem definitely is not due to a poor earth or poor soldering. It might be possible to fit a DNA 30/40 to it but the problem might lie in trying to use the existing cut outs for the power up and down buttons. Will have a better look when I get home next week.

i am in the process if fitting the new board and charger board

i personally think its not a viable option to offer this as a fix to people due to the cost and time involved
i have had to strip all the components (except the switches) of the original board and piggy back the dna board on the original one so i can use that boards switches and screen + holder

the first attempt worked ,but i used evolves recommended wire gauge through out but they are to thick to get everything back together properly

so i am going to have another go but drop the wire gauge down a size ,but will still be above the minimum evolve recommend

i checked the dimensions of the dna 75 but the usb is in the wrong place.


i have had to send for some 24 gauge wire (for the switches)

so will update when it comes and i have given it another go

With a 75 the USB cut out is too high up so the bottom buttons don't line up and the 510 is in the way of the board.  For a DNA 40 large screen you would have to change the buttons or make a board to hold switches in place and the Evolv charge board is blocked by a metal mounting turret so probably possible without USB charging, but not sure it is worth the effort.  BTW the screen is compatible with a DNA75 so worth saving.

  Reading the further threads striker42...I think it's

i finally finished fitting a DNA 40 board in to this mod!!!!!

1st board went wonky after a took the firing switch off it so had to send it back to Evolve for replacement ,but its all done now





It took quite a bit of faffin but its tiny!!

comparison to a VT40

got a working Evolve charge board too

Looks very nice, do you think it is cost effective doing this? I have a wood grain one and I really like the feel of it.
