The lovely people at Evolv gave us permission to base our 510 design on their reference 510 connector. At first glance it could be the same connector but there are the following differences. - They accept a slightly different range of 510 lengths up to 5.2mm.
- Gone are the hex shaped parts to make production cheaper.
- Our insulator and washer are made from PTFE
- 510 body is made from 303 stainless steel
- Toothed locking solder lug made from brass
- M12x1, 14mm wrench, 3mm thick brass nut
- Japanese inverted internal retaining ring (It looks like we've used an external retaining ring but we haven't, honest) This is to get more clearance from the centre pin.
- Simplified top face for a smooth clean appearance.
- Conical spring made from music wire to provide 10N+ at full compression. Again a cheaper option.
We started this project last November so it's great to finally release them. We've gone through multiple sample runs and spring revisions. It's surprising how complex springs are seeing as they look like the most straight forward part at first glance. Here's some pics Available at stealthvape.co.uk and modparts.co.uk

Looks great and I will be definitely trying these as the Evolv are just so good.

Let me know what you think Not ordered yet, but since you asked two thing occur to me 1 that the circlip looks like an exterior one (I always solder dismantled) and 2 it would be good if you sold a 510 tool, m7x0.5 bolt with a nut, to be able to fit these in tapped holes, which is my preferred way of fitting.

Here's the datasheet for the retaining rings, 100% internal www.ochiai-if.co.jp/english/products/pdf/001/001003001003.pdfI've got a plan for a 510 tool, I just need to get a huge VAT bill out of the way first but you're right, one is needed. I always tap the 510 where I can too. Thin wall spark plug sockets are perfect for tightening the nut up if the enclosure is long enough, just remove the bearing from the inside of the socket

Try right clicking and save as it's a pdf

Already used one of these in my personal dinky 75. As far as im concerned they are a top bit of kit and better than the Evolv as their hex design can make the pin jamb. Dont waste your money on the Evolv, get one of these instead.

The Evolv 510 post #10 evolvapor.forumchitchat.com/post/evolv-510-question-7835307 it is just a finishing issue with the pin that is easily fixed with a light tap with a pin hammer, but they were only ever sold as beta units including the 1000 Protovaper got. The hex shape is a great idea to prevent twisting stress from the cable on the PCB pads, but I don't think it was a huge problem and just them making a no compromise connector.

All i know is i had one returned to me and it was locked solid inside the hex casing. Only way i could fix it was to file the corners on the pin to stop it jambing.

The hex shape doesn't cause problems stealthvape it was was a finishing problem that caused some to stick, see my link above, I had 11 Evolv connectors only 2 had the problem that were fixed in a few seconds before I got the soldering iron out. I have it on good authority all the Evolv 510s were sold as beta so a thorough check and possibly modification is to be expected, but unfortunately I don't think all channels were as clear on this. Another nice feature they had was the thread cut so it gets tighter as it is screw in and removes some of the aluminium surface and oxidisation, this is why you need a strong pin wrench and a bench vise to screw them home properly.

Ah ok, understood. These must be the QC issues that Brandon mentioned a while back. It's a shame they didn't do a production run but perhaps that's planned for the future

Ah ok, understood. These must be the QC issues that Brandon mentioned a while back. It's a shame they didn't do a production run but perhaps that's planned for the future I think they did a few runs, I have seen 2 or 3 version, but they've never been particularly interested in making hw and just developed these in reaction to problems the DNA 40s exposed with other 510s. I can't see them going retail now with the FDA regs, although they have been in sale so they could for a while, but they are very extensive with that hex shape machining and I think you did the right thing for most customers skipping that. Look forward to giving the Scope a try, a friend on another forum wondered how the spring will perform, but I think coil springs are OK if they are the selected properly the just take up a little more room so am confident they will be fine plus @windows positive opinion above. BTW a good soldering tip that should apply to these ads well as the Evolv is to hole punch the base of a silicone carto condom to mask the body of the pin while soldering in case of overflow from expanding trapped air. You really do need to keep the outside clean or the will jam in the insulator.
