I'm sometimes finding when I use strawberry and/or blueberry concentrate (even in very small doses) that I am getting a nasty "perfume" smell/taste.
Is this common? Am I still using too much concentrate?
Cheers,
Andy

Usually associated with too little steeping I found. You should also let your mix breath for 24 hours before putting the cap on the bottle.

Some concentrates have a fragrance added to them on purpose as they were originally intended to flavour food / drinks. Look for un-fragranced concentrates, it's sometimes stated. I have found in the past though that the flavours that you mention are susceptible to these issues.

Breathing overnight for most fruit mixes aside from strawberry whose flavour diminishes very quickly so it's the only fruit I don't personally breathe at all, blueberry and watermelon/melon are the ones I have found with the strongest perfume taste/odour so sometimes my mixes with these in get overnight breathe then again a couple of days later if I can still detect some perfumery niffs from them or on the lick test taste they taste like nail varnish remover

I once accidentally got an 'orrible perfume flavour from washing bottles in water that (accidentally) had some liquid hand soap in it....
