I've been doing a lot of coiling lately.
I see a variety of jigs and coiling machines.
Does anybody use these?
Are they worth it?
Which is the best budget model?

I like the coil master, not sure what version number it is, it's an early one. looks like the one Todd is reviewing in 2015 here

Coil master/ Kuro = good.
Cheap jigs = bad.
I use the clone versions in 2.5mm and 3mm.

I grabbed a cheapo one for £3 on eBay. Works perfectly.
I would like to make some bigger gauge coils so am going to order one like the video above with interchangeable bits.
But the cheap one I got I can't fault.

The newer coilmaster has longer attachments which is very useful when stretching spaced coils on

I have a couple of coil masters but for a good while have just used a screwdriver. Not particularly good in my hands with fine wire and too small for chunky wires.

I've got one of these not being used if it's any use to someone.

I made mine after I struggled with fine wire on a drill bit: linky A while ago when introducing a friend to his first rebuildable atties (kayfun lite clones), he pulled a newly aquired Kuro/coil master (likely a clone - from FT) out. He ran up a clean neat coil in next to no time. And it certainly required less poking and prodding to finalise the shape and positioning when mounted than the one I made on my jig. It made it easy for him - a newby to coil winding - and gave excellent results easily. Note that we were only playing with simple contact coils - none of those fancy multi wire alien clapton with gt stripes and loud exhaust winds. I've no idea how these jigs would handle those specialty wires.
