Hi Ok ive been vaping 2 years and never tried temp control if im honest i just cant get my head around it, ive read VapingBad tutorial again and again and it just wont sink in, show me i will get it first time if i read it just cant get it. I have a couple of dna75's and 200's and not used to there potential Ive bought some staggered clapton pre made coils all ss316l 26ga core 32ga outer with ribbon ID 2.5 ohm out at 0.2 This is what i put in the steam engine and pressed dna200 for the csv i understand you download and install this file to your device but how do i know what temp and wattage to set it at ? Sorry for the long thread, pic below of where i am so far, Thanks

Grandad I only had a brief foray into TC before deciding it was not for me but from what I understand, both temperature and wattage settings are purely what suits the individual. I tended to set temperature at around 450F and power to the maximum of the mod (to provide fastest ramp up).

If your wire is just one metal (ss316l in your case) you don't need to download a profile the built in 316 profile should be fine, they are just for non-standard & mixed metal wires, though some suppliers ss have strange TCRs that need a different setting. I wouldn't choose a Clapton for your first build as they are prone to hot spots and make it a bit more difficult, I have read that it is best to dry fire them before wicking to ensure they heat evenly, try not to glow them more than you have to as ss's surface disintegrates when you glow it too bright. Hopefully all the wire in your clapton is the same grade of ss or you may need to use a custom TCR. I would start with 0.4 mm ss or Ti if I were your so you have a feel for how vaping at temp x and watts y feels before going to ss claptons.

Thanks VapingBad your right i need to start off with basic single, i just used the standard 316L thats on escribe and set it to 450f but i think im trying to run before i can walk. This tc is a whole new ball game for me, i hear such good things about it though, i only just realised today that you can change profiles without going on escribe, thats a pretty poor show for someone thats owned a 200 for 6 months. i will try a standard 24g ss duel coil, what temp would you start at ? I like a warm vape

tbh I just set the temp once ive got the coil heating up right the power don't matter to much as long as there is nuff to power the coil you can use a 1 ohm build at 75 watts in a kfv3 and have temp at 420f and all is good if its working right don't bother with preheat yet have messed about with tc for younks but never got on with it till I got dna 75 and it just seems to work so slap some standard spaced ss coils in and try it lol

I would start around 420 F, as decoy said don't worry about specific numbers just adjust to how you like to vape. I would use preheat though, just double you normal watts, punch 7 and time 1 sec won't give you any issues, but will get you up to temp far quicker.

Also don't lock the ohms with DNAs, after fitting a new ss coil fire it for a second an let it sit for a few mins will get you a more accurate res reading, it is not normally necessary, but a good idea while you are finding your feet.

Well i gave it a go and it works pretty impressed so far, Used an obs crius v3 with 2.5id 7 spaced wraps of ss316L ohmed out at .24 set everything as you said VapingBad decoy and its all good great flavour and good vapor too. A little warm but im assuming if i change the temp that will lower the heat. One small problem (Pic below) i set my display up to do temp reading on coil sensing for temp control but its also showing temp when i go back to the wattage profile on the mod, but ive set it for battery, any ideas please ? Thankyou for your help i think ive found myself a new style of vaping

Grandad it looks like you set power mode (bottom 2) and temp mode(top 2) screens the opposite way to what you intended. BTW if you have temp dominate checked in the profile temp and watts swap positions.

I put the bottom values in the top and when i was on watts mode the temp came up which is not what i picked lol i have so much to learn, i didnt have dominate checked so have checked that now. stupid question VapingBad how do i know temp control is working my vape seems to get hotter and hotter

As VB says Grandad, switch your Battery pack ( Running temp Sensing coils) to Temperature. With (Running Power controlled Coils) and all should be good.

You get the large temp figures if you have selected Temp Dominant or words to that effect in the general tab, i actually run all mine in temp mode with those large figures as it just easier to see.
Temp off i have only seen when i have managed to mess things up , i usually just remove the atty, and fire it (it will say Check Atty) that is the board reset, (now you have to wait until the atty is back to room temp, put back on the mod and quick fire it, you should get now coil yes/No
Press Yes, and all should be good again.
