Thats exactly what i thought...but read some differing opinions on here last few days that made me wonder

There's a long thread on ECF about the Alien which has quite mixed reactions, most people seem to like using it, not too many finish issues IIRC, TC not great and this seems to be worse in the latest fw (which I imagine this baby one is running) and nobody can get the previous fw to fix that, and the usual issues that one or two unlucky users get like buttons or screen failing that happen to every mod.

Yes, they were terrible and we stopped dealing with them long before VE closed down.

The return rate on some of their stuff was knocking on for 50% (we considered 5% as acceptable and for comparison Joyetech was <1%).

Hopefully, they've improved since then.

Surprised to hear there are so few issues on that thread regarding the finish on the Alien. That was the deal breaker for me, at least 50% of people I spoke to had suffered paint loss within the first week. Poor TC on a mod doesn't worry me as I don't use it, but if it is advertised as a TC mod then it should work.................properly.

IDK maybe it's better, maybe they all use silicone sleeves or maybe people adjust their expectations.

I have 5 smok aliens, 1 got dropped on concrete and had some chunks taken out of it but any soft metal mod will suffer that (I have a joyetech cubis that suffered exactly the same). It still works fine. The other 4 are still like new apart from the slight scratces on the screen that comes from normal use. I have a smok skyhook that's gone everywhere with me since the day I got it and it's still like new. I've heard so many bad things about smok QC but I'm yet to have a bad experience.
I only vape direct lung in TC mode and none of the above mods have let me down in their accuracy, the smok board is my favourite at the moment behind the DNA boards
