Afternoon each, Not sure if this is a variation on a question I asked last week, but......do you think there are some flavours (assuming PG/VG mix is constant at say either 50/50 or 70/30 VG) that are better for sub-ohming or non-sub-ohming? For example, I love my Mexican Ice Cream mix in my Nautilus but am very indifferent to it with my Cleito. Alternatively, I had been using Bestcigliquid NET's just in my Nautilus (where they are very good) and then tried them in the Cleito and they were unbelievably good... As a follow up question, I do find a lot of flavours much weaker with my Cleito usually. Would the recommendation be to try a different sub-ohm system or to finally bite the bullet with coil building?

I, and many other custard/dessert nuts find sub-ohming not great for flavour. Yes there will be some that disagree bit over the last few years of being on forums it seems majority will agree.
I very rarely vape custards/desserts lower than 1.5ohms. And no more than 20w. The flavour is spot on there.

I find My main FA cola juice tastes different in all of my 5 main MTL tanks. So its always worth trying other tanks on the off chance it may be 'the one'. As a great philosopher once said 'i think your gonna need a bigger junk draw'.

Yes and yes from me ghostrider1971 . . . . anything custardy/some desserts are a definite no sub-ohming, somehow it just seems to strip the flavour layers out and I get a bland almost tasteless vape. Which certainly wouldn't be due to the ratios I use. Yet fruits, anything aniseed/menthol/mint based the flavours pop right out at higher wattages. All according to my personal liking of course.

I whack up the watts on all custards. Then again, 'whacking' is another way of saying slop it directly on the coils of the RDA and re-apply more juice in no more than 5 puffs. It's the tobaccos I vape like a tootle puffer.

flavours respond to different temperatures, I have a preference for the warmer notes with vanilla. It's how some of the complicated recipes get depths of different flavour.
'Sub-ohm' or not: is of no consequence with a regulated mod, it's more the application of watts and how fast the coil heats up. I have a 0.3ohm SS coil in my sxk V5, 14-17w all day, whilst my Aeronaut has a 0.5 ohm coil that doesn't wake up until it gets 60w. I wouldn't put 60w through the 0.3ohm in the kayfum. Factory coils are made to perform in a set way so they loose flavour in return for a few more clouds. Well worth biting the bullet on a good rta and tailoring the coils to what you want.

I find restricted airflow on the right tank can create more flavour but so can cranking up the watts on a decent coil. As SteveF says a lot depends on coil type and wicking . I use dual claptons at 3mm ID 0.13 and 0.25OHM and both make lots of flavour with any juice at 100w and above. The higher the power the more flavour with them as there's plenty of airflow and they wick like champs

I would bite the bullet and go for coil building, ghostrider1971, I find flavour is almost always better with built coils. For me flavours are effected by just about everything about a build, sometime subtle, sometimes its very different. Don't yet do custards (though that will change soon, have some concentrates I've yet to try!). If you do go for building, lots of videos on the web and, when that fails, good advice from the folk here!

i have found some flavors to be overpowering when sub ohming but with a little adjustment of the % of flavor they can be v pleasant
tbh the easiest way to get a big diff is using an rta with coils you have built your self or premade(cheat lol) its not that hard to get them working well and after the initial frustration of learning the nack youll wounder why you hadn't done it sooner i personally would not recommend getting a tank that has rba and shop got coils as they are norm fiddly, small and dont seem work well in tc
mini goblin v3 isn't to bad a tank to have a play with as it has 2 decks(single and duel coil)and relatively easy to get decent results the air flow is more a slightly restricted lung hit in single coil and a little loser in duel coil and you wont be able to run it much above 40 watts saying all that it is a tasty tank lol
