Evening all, Whilst enjoying my newfound RDA status I am still a huge fan of my fleet of Nautilus tanks. The last few packs of coils I have purchased from various vendors online have been at best "iffy" (particularly with flavour...) Even the recent 3 new tanks I bought in the TPD sales seem to have issues with the coils provided by Aspire in the box. I'm using Black n Blue DIY mixed at 20% which is a lovely, strong flavour and I ain't getting much of it Any ideas/suggestions/comments, please?

Yip, have found the same for months now ghostrider1971 hence I rarely use them now and have a rather large stash of them just sitting in the box......they just seem to mute the flavour now and only last 5min before they go 'off' so to speak, used to get a couple of weeks out of them with good flavour all the time. Have ordered some of the 0.7ohm to try to see if they are any better. I have a pile of rebuilt smifee coils and they are indeed great coils, easy to dry burn & re-wick, he does them at around 1.4ohm.

Still a big mtl vaper and the nautilus should have the respect for being the first and continuing tank for many vapers. Then I discovered the clapton TC coils for the nautilus/ triton mini... Blown away. Taste, vape so much better on TC

Have you tried the 1,8 ohm claptons for the triton mini. They are coils designed for the Triton but also fit the nauti. Found some on eBay for about 7 quid I think I'll post a link later. I also got some regular 1.8 nauti coils from vape inc recently and they have been fine

Thanks for the tags. I don't sign in so often these days as I have been using the same gear for over a year now. Shinyitus has gone and I really only want to read about iSticks, Kabukis, Nautilus & Minis.
The recoiled heads I made were fine for the first year I was making them but then I was getting a lot of flooding, gurgling & sometimes leaking.
Fingers crossed it looks like I have found a cure. I'll make a separate thread about it.
I have a lot of coils in circulation with people I make liquids for. One guy has 30 coils and is under instructions to use 1 a day. He chain vapes so hard that when I got them back to rewick I had to put a new coil in. I prepared 127 coil heads for recoiling last night and have about 100 waiting to be drilled.
Getting on topic. I hadn't used a stock coil since the couple of packs I bought when I got my first Nautilus. As I was running out of the rubber grommets I got Angie to use some stock coils and tried one myself. No difference in flavour to recoiled but having to prime it was a PITA. It came with a tank I bought as a backup for a backup for ........... so wasn't recently produced.
When I have caught up I'll be offering 2 used for 1 recoiled to forum members again. So please don't bin them.

Another vote for the Triton Mini 1.8 Clapton coils here. Whilst I gave up buying retailer made coils a long time ago due to the frustration of so many bad coils in a batch and the consequent cost, the only one that has consistently performed well for me is this coil. I purchased a Nautilus 2 the other week for science and curiosity, along with some more Clapton 1.8 coils to test it with and damn, I have to admit flavour wise this combination of coil and tank is really not that far behind the self coiled Kayfuns. If I ever had to go back to buying stock coils regularly (which would be a dark day indeed) I would be using these coils for sure.

Price for price, I am using "stock coils" at £1.60 per coils. I am getting between 7P to 10P a day from these.
So how much would I be saving if was to make my own?

That's pretty good value lobeydosser as long as the quality of coils your buying is consistently good (in my experience they rarely were though). That said, a tenner(ish) should buy enough 28AWG wire and good cotton to last most people one to two years, so the savings from making your own are not too shabby in comparison. If you do try it then I would suggest you do it alongside running your stock coil tank as well until you get the hang of it, as it will take a bit of trial and error to start with (the coils are faily easy to make but "good" wicking takes a bit longer to master). Well worth doing though and equal to mixing your own juice in terms of satisfaction and fun IMO.

Thanks @hondo
Going on the numbers of days my stock coils should last me, it will be 8.22 years before I need to start worrying about rebuilding my own coils.
Hopefully by then, TDP will be ancient history and we have all returned to the status quo.

I'll make a separate thread about it. I'll be holding my breath for this. So hurry up I think the flooding is due to the coil legs burning a line into the grommet. Repeated use of a grommet in several recoils eventually leads to a line the full length of the grommet allowing liquid to escape.
Using NR/R/NR coils and a fresh grommet for each recoil has been successful so far but it's early days.
Due to the limited space for a horizontal coil the NR legs reduce the Ohms. Most are coming out at 1.2 to 1.4 depending on the furkling needed to get rid of hot spots.
With the end of the football season and no cycling Grand Tour for a month this Armchair Sportsman should have finished the backlog by the end of June.

Hi smifee How long do your rebuilt coils last you? And where do you get your fresh grommets from?

Are the Triton coils mentioned only for the Nautilus mini or can they be used in the 5ml Version.
