Hi mech people
Ive got my first ever mech today (the boxer squonker).
I think i understand battery safety but before i jump in, id like to know a few things.
Where can i find info about what batteries = lowest builds? I have several brands here so want to choose accordingly.
What kanthal builds do you guys use?
Anyone use 0.4mm kanthel? I always do a 5/6 wrap 3mm single coil for my pico squeezes and it hits hard. So id like to do the same build on this mech if i can.
Thats it for now!
Thanks
Bish

most 20 amp batts are good down to around 0.2 ohms the squeeze is a mech but with a fuze and a max of 50 watts so you shouldent have a prob using the same builds

With the build you mentioned you will only be pulling about 5A on a fully charged cell so well within the safe zone for any 18650 really. I calculate the resistance to be somewhere between 0.75ohm and 0.85ohm for that coil with a 5 or 6 wrap.
As already mention 0.2ohm is as low as you can go and stay within the Continuous rating on a 20A battery, you can go lower but then your into pulse rating territory. A 30A battery the lowest resistance is around 0.15ohm in the continuous discharge rating.

Perfectly safe with that build. I'd recommend trying some ni80 wire. Cuts the ramp up time down to next to nothing. It's all I use on my mechs now

Thanks Bish Thats what I use in my RTAs and only use tube mechs so you should be fine. Perfectly safe with that build. I'd recommend trying some ni80 wire. Cuts the ramp up time down to next to nothing. It's all I use on my mechs now Is it easy to work with? Its a lot softer than kanthal of a similar thickness so its a doddle to coil. You need to be a bit more careful pulling your wicks out as it is easy to miss shape a coil but easy enough to put right agian if you do. Get a roll of .5 Ni80 for chuckin the clouds but your kanthal will be fine if you just wanna MTL. (you can MTL a tight draw on a spaced Ni80 coil at .4ohms but its a very dense vape)
