Sounds like a good first step, hope they get behind it up here.

Sounds like a good first step, hope they get behind it up here. I doubt if "they will get behind it up here". As at present, part of the SNP manifesto states that it wants to see all smoking banned by 2030.
With a Draconian outlook like that, I don't see them listening to any arguments along the lines of health or sensibility.

What I find very strange regarding this is why is it an England Only plan and who in England Only has the authority to decree that this Plan(?) is government approved.
Fantastic as this news may be and I am certainly all for it, if it is true, I would have expected to hear a lot more about it if it was a government announcement.

It does seem a remarkably naive plan. I wonder if the SNP would accept an interim effort to get as many smokers (who won't/can't quit) on vaping over the time up to 2030? Young people where I live are fiends for smoking - it's no joke. They seem to think (like many of us did) that you can smoke for a while and then stop when you are bored of it or feel it's uncool or maybe you're starting a family. If those smokers (many are U18) actually vaped and never smoked*, that would make the aim of a totally smoke-free society more realistic, would it not? *That's why I try not to be too concerned with youngsters with 'cool' (large, sub-ohm) vaping rigs. The more they get into the vaping thing and the more kudos they have with their devices, the less chance (i.m.o.) of them cracking open an £10.50 pack of B&H.

Is that what they cost these days? My gawd, they were £7.60 when I stopped.
The main things is that a government body who makes up rules against the wishes of the people is doomed to failure. Take Prohibition in the USA. A moral disaster from the very start. The SNP are hell bent on doing the same thing with their policies on raising the cost on Alcohol and their future policy on banning smoking. These are both "freedom of choice" privileges that are available to everyone and no one has the right to decree otherwise.

I had restrain myself from launching into a ' have you tried ecigs ' pitch - don't think the powers that be at work would appreciate that somehow!

"Would you like more fags with your fags" (Would you like more meal items with the meal you just ordered) Ice-cream style whippy dessert flavored with chocolate pieces dessert and spoon thing (in a large cup), flavoured e-liquid? (Have I used any trademarks there... ) £11.21. That's £4,000 a year for a 1 PAD smoker. Terrifying.

Hi djs When I changed to Vaping, I was on 40 super kings a day and had been for several years. At that time, my daily fag spend was £16.60p. (£116.20p a week). Even adding over £1000 a year on Vaping related goods, that left me with a £5000 a year bonus on my Pension Fund. As I will now be Vaping on my stashed away reserves and with the price of fags nowadays, I feel as if I have won the Lottery!

I spend very little these days, but invested a lot to get me where I am. 'Proper' filtered cigarettes are astonishingly costly. I can imagine the money in the pocket (by switching to vaping) must be incredible. You're winning twice over!

<<< You're winning twice over! >>> Actually more than twice over djs . Yes by stashing away all the e-juice chemicals etc, the money that is no longer being spent is now going on things that I have always dreamed about but could never afford. My back garden, which was a heap for years is now a place to enjoy and although there is still work to be done, it is someplace I would rather be than any expensive holiday destination. And, it is right outside my door. This morning I committed work to be started on the front garden and that will take up a full years worth of savings. Bedtime reading will be confined to Rose Catalogues for a while now!!!! Vaping has opened a whole lot of pleasures that I thought were impossible to ever achieve.
