Having not bought any pre made juice for bloody ages now, add the fact that i seem to delete all my emails sent from vendors as im happy with my diy juices and hardware...i havent really been watching whats going on in vape world.
Well i got an email today from a well respected vendor. Decided to actually look at it for a change. Thats when i couldnt believe my eyes! £16 for 50ml of juice...WITHOUT nicotine? Really??? Whats happened to value for money?? Us DIYER'S know how much it costs to make 50ml...peanuts! So how the hell can these vendors be selling zero nic juice for this much??? Plus add postage!
Seems to me that vendors could be making more money from the TPD than before!?

Some vendors have always taken the Pi$$ on pre made. Nic not really that expensive compared to concs anyway, or at least it wasn't in the days I bought it. At the end of the day if there's mugs who'll buy it then there's people who'll profit heavily on it. Some will say there's lots of branding and deveolpment costs etc but that never washed with me. Having said all that I have an iPhone aniPad An iMac and an Apple TV

..I have enough premium juice bought in pre TPD sales to keep me going well beyond the sell by dates! <<think I went a bit mental at the bargains? I just though that they were almost cheaper than my DIY costs so took a punt at a hell of a lot of the ready mades on offer...

Like Pep I also have a cupboard full of ' premium ' eliquid, bought at silly prices in the pre TPD sales . . . . . so far I've been seriously underwhelmed with many of the ones I have tried.
Had I paid the full ridiculous cost that some command, then I'd be well disappointed.
As it is I'm philosophical . . . . . and very happy in the choice made a time ago to go down the DIY route. That said and perhaps I'm being a tightwad, some of the ' top end ' concentrate ranges aren't as reasonable as they possibly could be.

Ok i'll play devils advocate. You don't have to pay for premises. You don't have to pay for distribution. You don't have to pay employees. You don't have to pay business taxes. You don't have to pay for licensing applications. To pay lawyers and all the other sundry expenses involved with running a business. You're not making juice as a means to make a living, to put food in the cupboards, to pay the mortgage/rent, to pay for the car, to put petrol in the car, to buy your clothes, to pay for your holidays etc.

But with all the hardware that vendors sell...the mark up on juice is unreal!

its a difficult one. yes i totally agree that the good guys out there have spent upto £100,000 on getting flavors passed and still have to on top of that pay rent and all the other bits mentioned above. now poxy 10ml bottles. the so called premium (uk and import) are priced at £1 - £6 each. the higher end is where they are taking the pish. and through good authority its not the vendors but the suppliers that are setting the high price tag and i know of 2 vendors that have had threatening emails telling the vendor to put their price up or else they will stop supplying them. now what happened to good old competition in the market place. vendor A is charging £5 rrp. vendor B is charging £3.50 and hes still making a profit. vendor A gets pissed of thet hes losing customers when price match is mentioned so he complains to his supplier. vendor B receives threatening emails. so yes £16 does sound a lot for 50ml shortfill compared to what we used to pay prior to tpd but even 50ml works out cheaper than 10ml bottles. the worst offender ive found so far and have mentioned this a few times is one hit wonder. before tpd 180ml was £39 after tpd 180ml in 10ml bottles is £107.82 so yes diy is the future but sadly there are still some of us out there who cant diy so have to buy ready made and pay the price. i need a lie down now

Lets look at your example from another angle. Vendor A is charging £5 the MSRP. Vendor B is charging £3.50. Now here's where things diverge from your example, it's not just Vendor A that is pissed off it's every vendor that is selling at the MSRP and the manufacturer too. If Vendor B keeps selling under the MSRP all the other vendors can't shift the volume of units they should be shifting because Vendor B has poached their customers by offering the product well below the MSRP. And lets get real here Vendor B isn't offering a lower price because vendor B is altruistic in nature, Vendor B is offering that lower price to shift high volume quickly and increase their own profits. Now all those other vendors start contacting the supplier and threatening to cancel orders reducing the customer base of the supplier. So if you were the supplier what would you do? tell that single vendor to stick to the MSRP or tell every other vendor they can jog on?

And do you decant your DIY into 10ml bottles with all the appropriate regulatory requirements and artwork on the labels ? As for hardware, the last item I shop bought here was about 15% more expensive than I could have got from China, so I don't see that as excessive profit as they have to buy things and could be left with old stock...

No but I was making my own juice for a fraction of the price of most ready made juice before the TPD and regulatory requirements and 10ml bottles. i.e. for around 60p for 10ml and that was using quality nic from the likes of Pirate Vapes and flavourings from reputable UK sources. Edit sorry that makes no sense ignore me. Too many glasses of the red stuff.

Prices were always going to go up in this game, especially once the government got their greedy hands on it. As time goes by it will steadily get worse with more expense and control. On top of the expense the government costs us and vendors , there will always be vendors who will over price their goods. Unfortunately this is the way our world works, the rich get richer and the common man is a slave to their system. Luckily some of us have taken the time to learn and sort ourselves out though. I feel very lucky that I've never been caught in the trap of overpriced juice and I intend to stay that way.Mixing is easy enough and I'm happy with the recipes I have. I've had plenty of failures but that's a learning curve ain't it lol. Anyway, shove the overpriced crap where the sun doesn't shine and keep it DIY I say 😉😊😆😎😘

20 fags around £10 for a known "Brand" which would be the average a smoker got through in a day (a lot more for me, less for others)I guess. No way can even expensive pre-made juice cost the equivalent!
