Hey guys i went up my local last night to watch the footy (congrats chelsea ) id been openly vaping for around 2 hours then the barman informed me that you cant use ecigs in the pub as they havnt been proven that they are safe. i told him they are fine he then said it was Brains brewery,s policy anyway he left and i took no notice of him and continued to vape..he come back and told me to stop so i asked to see their smoking policy he then returned with some email saying no ecigs. he left again and i carried on vaping i was told to leave but didnt i carried on watching the footy and vaped out of his sight. My friend went to buy a round and the barman refused to sell me anymore drinks so i watched the footy and went to another pub up the road. The 1st thing i done was ask the landlord if i could vape and he said yes carry on so i did and had a very drunken happy good night. Id been in pub one about 2 weeks ago playing pool with the landlord and openly vaped in front of him..he didnt say a word but he wasnt there last night... ps im not a trouble maker honest..Tho i am a bit of a rebel

Landlords do have the right to refuse anyone entry or service. I'm not as 'outgoing' so I'd probably have stopped when asked, but as it's your local it may be worth chatting with the landlord in the cool light of day and providing him (and Brains) with the relevant info.

Out of curiosity Daz, what kind of kit were you using?
I've heard a couple of murmurs about pubs down my way doing much the same thing - having a "no e-cigs" policy - but I'd gathered this was due to confusion created when people used cig-a-likes. From some points of view, you can kind of understand it - if the pub's busy and it leads to someone else lighting up a stinky way over on the other side of the room it must be a nightmare from the bar staff's situation behind the bar.
It's definitely a point in favour of having an e-cig which most decidedly does NOT resemble a cigarette when you go out!
Good suggestion from OneDay, but if it really is the brewery's policy and the landlord is actually just a manager he'd be jeopardising his job if he let you vape in there. I'm guessing that Gaz probably wouldn't have had a chance to make out a date on that email - it is even possible this is an "Edict From On High" that's arrived between the previous time he was there and yesterday?

Stick it to the Man Gaz......lol It just shows ya, a lot of people haven't a bloody clue. I think I'd of done the same thing, if I'd had a few. Sober, I'd probably have left or gone outside to vape in peace.

As Tetsy says, if the policy is that of the brewery, then the landlord isn't going to be able to help, apart from him challenging the policy.

I had a similar situation at my local The Vaga Tavern, but I realised the reason was because the landlord didn't have a clue what it was!!! So he said 'No'. I ask if the brewery (Marston's) had a policy for ecigs, but he said "no idea never heard of them". So, many people in pub very interested in ecig and I let a few have a go, some people who knew about them said "why don't you 'smoke' it in the pub". Anyway, I found a moment a few days later to explain it all to the landlord and he said he had no problem, as long as they don't look like a cigarette, (hence I use Argento + Stone. People don't know what they are all about, so make sure you take the time to explain.

This is the sort of thing Russel and CAMVIP and their members are trying to sort out , I'm afraid I don't agree with your arrogance of continuing to vape once you have been asked to stop. IMO it's the wrong attitude , if we want more pubs to become vape friendly then we need to educate them .
I was of a similar opinion to yourself 12 months ago , but have since learned more about the "politics" of what is involved.
As has been mentioned a publican can refuse to allow entry for the slightest reason , so why pi** someone off.
As vapers we aren't holier than thou and cannot expect to be treated any differently than smokers "AT THIS MOMENT IN TIME" .
If the general public aren't aware of vaping , then your still a tobacco smoker as far as they are concerned.

I shall speak to the landlord and if those are the rules il abide by them...for all anybody knows the guy could have been left in charge and got a bit power hungry and was being a knob as like i said i had vaped playing pool with the landlord a couple of weeks ago and also been vaping in the bar for 2 hours before anything was said

I didn't mean to sound too harsh gaz but you have to be a bit more tactile with these people , especially like you say buddy boy was left in charge and "felt the power" .
As vapers we know that what we do is perfectly legal so far . But for those that can't see or understand the difference .. is where we have our work cut out .
A cloud of vapour in a bar can easily be construed as ( by others ... mainly pi**ed up smokers ) as hey lads looks like this dude allows us to smoke our fags in here
