I bought a new pre built computer for my wife and when switched on it only goes to the gigabyte set up page.I do not have a cd player attached so tried putting the cd from gigabytes on a usb stick and also on an external hard drive but nothing happeded.Do you think I should buy a cd player to use the disc directly

What does the gigabyte setup page say? Seems strange they've provided a computer and essential (?) CD that it's not equipped for. Can't you contact them?

You might try powering up pushing (maybe) F12 to get to boot menu *if you think the CD is a boot disc. You then may be able to direct to boot from USB [ETA] - Not sure if THIS helps

Have a look on bottom of screen and look for load defaults might be f7 then press f10 to save and quit. To be honest no pc should boot to bios without being told to if you a confident in bios look and make sure memory and cpu are reporting the correct specs.

if windows 10 is stored anywhere it would be on a partition on the ssd harddrive. the win 10 program is around 15gb in size. a picture of the bootup screen you are getting would help me thinks. a call to their tech support is a must as a new pc should be ready out of the box and bootup to the windows welcome screen for you to then setup. maybe a ram chip or drive has come lose in transit. actually same happened to my £2000 alienware laptop years ago. has to be asked as ive seen it happen before on tech forums with bespoke built pc's. did it cost £349 (no operating system included) or £439 (windows 10 home plus loaded). you could try this forum which is mainly gaming laptops but they do have a desktop section here forum.notebookreview.com/forums/desktop-hardware.1121/

not what you need when you buy a comp expecting it to work straight away.

The pic of the bios screen would be a good help, it may be something as simple as setting the ssd to be the first boot device in the bios then saving and exiting.
