Same as my husband. 12 yrs ago he ended up in hospital sane as Ripple described, never diagnosed other than copd, end of feb I nearly lost him. As luck would have it I never, the copd was then diagnosed as emphasimea(sp) and cronic infected asthma, we now have a lovely adthma nurse, he is brilliant, has him on double dose of adthma inhaler, does wonders, karma, Y husband was always out of breath but we took it as a way of life due to the wrongly diagnosed copd, he obviously has the emophosemia but no copd, its asthma. I dont understand asthma that well but apparently he gets infections with his?

Interesting Sandra, my friend has been diagnosed COPD then told no it's asthma then no it's COPD She won't stop smoking as they have told her that the damage, whether it is COPD or Asthma cannot be undone. Anytime she gets a cold it's antibiotics as it goes straight to her chest. It was her who originally introduced me to e-cigs over a year ago with a clearsmoke one. Obviously that didn't work for her, then when I bought my Titan 510 on offer in January she bought one too. Hers is in a drawer and she isn't remotely interested in my new enhanced vaping devices

Ripple, You need to be aware that Propylene Glycol in Ejuices can cause an allergic response in some people,- dry sore throat, irritated airways being some of the symptoms. Just a heads up, not sure how it affects people with exisiting respiratory problems. Maybe someone with more experience could give their opinion. Either way its better than ciggies.

Karma-he hadnt smoked since tbe first hospitL emergency 12yrs ago, his emphismema has not got any worse and since feb emergency and being diagnosed with infected asthma he seems better thane ever. He has emergency steroids in the house and a chart that if his airflow drops below a certain level, we have to get him to hospital. You can tell copd or most copd/emphimimea people their breathing is laboured compared to most

I've a horrendous sense of direction, even with Sat Nav. How on earth do you get lost with a sat nav? Quite, quite easily Wobble, as I've a sneaky suspicion that the woman in the Sat Nav, isn't entirely sure where she's going to . . . so I've had to question her directions on a number occasions now. Took me a couple of weeks to become a tobacco free zone Ripple, until like Karma, I woke up one morning and thought . . . I don't fancy a ciggy this morning and vaped instead. Once I'd overcome that must have a cigarette before I do anything else mindset, I knew I'd cracked it. Much to my amazement must admit, as I loved my ciggies, absolutely loved them. Don't know why now.

Ripple, when vaping you don't have to inhale right into your lungs, you can if you want. You will still get the feeling of smoking and the nicotine hit by just taking the vapour into your mouth. May be worth trying considering your problems?

I rarely actually inhale to my lungs anymore - just into my mouth and out through my nose. This gives me the hit I need, and hopefully saves my lungs anymore labouring

I have early onset emphysema too ripple, but the specialist told me as long as I don't smoke anymore, it won't get any worse. I'll have to have a cat scan every 2 years though just to be on the safe side as I passively smoke. You poor thing but at least it is early stages do you have oxygen in the house? Hope you don't mind me asking you that only l did and it turned out that it was actually making me worse so l went onto a inhaler and l seem a lot brighter for some strange reason, l was diagnosed in 2008 what about you? If l am being to personal just tell me I take warfarin blood thinner ripple and was coughing up blood in September last year, so was sent for tests. I had a feeling it was just that my dose was too high, but my Dr. insisted I spent a day in hospital. I had a lung X ray among other poking and prodding, as they do. It turned out that it was the warfarin, which I'd guessed in the first place, but the X ray had shown up the beginnings of COPD. I was shown a black and white image of it on a lit screen a few weeks later at a consultation. It just looked like white specks. ??? I can't walk very fast, can't run at all and get out of breath quickly, but I've been like that all my life. That's down to all my other illnesses I was born with. So as for the COPD, it doesn't have any specific effect on me that I'm aware of. I just plod through life, as you do! Sorry to hear it has such nasty effects on you. (((Hugs)))

Hi Ripple I'm new to all this toooo! I think it's going to take a while to take everything in, there's so much to think about. I'm not putting any pressure on myself the way I see it is every nasty I don't have is a blessing and helps to pay for the kit I bought, one day at a a time

You say about it helping your lungs, for me even this short time I have been vaping, my lungs are vastly improved. I was very fit in my youth and did a lot of sport and a lot of water sports. I am a qualified diver though not been for a long time. I know my lung capacity had vastly reduced. The big indicator for me was last year we went to Tintagel, which to anyone that has been there will know about the hill. the year before I had power walked up it, draggin the youngest along with me, (ok not draggin but hurrying her) it was to because she kept running on ahead when me and the Mrs wanted a nice walk to enjoy the little sun we had. As I was saying, Last year, I found that I was huffing and puffing most of the way up, I felt disgusted with myself, I should not of been like that unless I had a bad cold. Here I am now, one month off the ciggys, and I know my lungs are so much better than they used to be. when I firse started the e-cig used to cut off at 5 seconds, which I never got to, then I started to get to the cut off, now I have an eGo with a cut off of 10 seconds, and I keep hitting it. ergo my lungs have gotten bigger. back to what they used to be like. I can feel it in myself too, I do not get out of breath so easily anymore.
