Hmmmmm, I find it terribly hypocritical Ken, why aren't normal cigarettes banned then as they've been proven to be damaging to health!

What a completely biased report with so many errors in the "information" it contains. The most galring one being : -
"Emphasizing that nicotine is the most dangerous element among 4,800 poisonous chemicals in cigarettes, the vice president of the Foundation Combating Smoking, Kıyas Güngör, argued nothing that contains nicotine can help people quit smoking. “Quitting smoking is possible only if one can stay away from nicotine, but these electronic cigarettes increase addiction,” he said, and added that he supports the Health Ministry's sales suspension on these cigarettes."
So he is saying that nicotine is more harmful than Arsenic (one of the other 4,800 components of realcigs) for instance?
And as for the "nothing that contains nicotine can help people quit smoking" try telling that to the NHS & drug companies that push nicotine patches, gum & Nicorette Inhalators.

I'm going to avoid reading this article. Don't want to scare myself.

Just thinking the same thing, Hissie I don't know where the "vaping nun" comes into it, but we already have one of our own - Kate scylla

These ill-informed articles do make me mad. Has the test using rats no merit at all. After an extended period of intense subjection to vapourized liquid nicotine, no ill-effects were reported at all. the rats were subjected to high strength nicotine vapour 24/7 for (I think) 6 days/week for many months. I wonder what would have happened to the rats had a similar test been carried out using cigarette smoke. (I've had a Google for the original report but can't find it - I'm a hopeless Googler!) Apart from a deliberate suicide and a baby being taken ill after getting a discarded nic-patch stuck on its bottom, I've heard or read of no harm coming to any vaper. Nicotine is, as we all know, highly addictive but unless one has heart/blood pressure/circulatory problems or is pregnant (also applies to tobacco use), it seems relatively harmless in the highly diluted form we vapers use - there have been no reports of anyone being harmed thus far. Bottles of household cleaning fluid, bleach, pesticides and carelessly stored medication are far more problematic. One MEP when raising a question in the EU Parliament, referred to the e-cigarette as a plastic device using the poisonous ingredient in antifreeze. Anyone with an ounce of knowledge about e-liquid or antifreeze knows that P.Glycol is used to make antifreeze LESS toxic. The person seemed to have no idea what e-liquid was or the huge number of everyday products that have 'safe' glycol as an ingredient. I think we're all pretty well-aware of the reasons tobacco products are an 'exception' to the current proposals are we not? The NRT market is a huge money-spinner and yet there is no regulation as to how much nicotine is in the products or, indeed, whether they contain any at all. Lies, damned lies and statistics rule again. > Fox Edit: Still can't find the 'rats' but this is interesting : www.ecigarettedirect.co.uk/extra%20info/e-cigarette-safety-report.pdf
