It's recommended that you don't leave your batteries on charge for longer than necessary, but you want to be sure of a fresh battery in the morning after a good nights kip or for when you get home from work after a hard shift etc Here's a little idea that may not only lengthen the life of your batteries and mains usb charger, but provide you with a fresh battery when you need it most. Plug your Mains charger into one of those plug in timers, similar to this www.screwfix.com/p/plug-in-compact-timer/44241 and set it to finish charging for when you wake etc

Personally would only recommend to do this if you have a circuit breaker to be honest. Just my opinion.

that is exactly the way i charge mine but i dont leave it on if im going out or too bed. its just better imo too have an extra battery and rotate them ie:3 or 4 that way youve always got a battery charged.

IF a charger conforms to the very well published specs, then it should sense that the battery is full (i.e. has reached 4.2 volts) and shut off the charge current altogether. It should keep sensing the charge level, and only begin charging again when the voltage in the cell falls below, say, 4.1 volts (might be 4.15 in some, or 4.16 - but you get the idea).
However, some, like the Trustfire TR-001, maintain a very low-level current - in the order of 40milliamps, and will continue to raise the battery voltage. Beyond 4.25 volts, you're entering risky territory.
Pilas and Xtars (WP2, SP2 and WP6), however, do shut off the current to less than 10milliamps (which they use for sensing, around once a second) and conform to the published specs for chargers. They're pretty much safe to leave connected with a battery in overnight, will not overcharge and are, in my view, the pick of the bunch for "big batteries".
As for USB chargers for ego-alikes and look-alikes - the timer idea is very probably the better bet. However, be aware that once the current is disconnected at the three pin socket, the battery that's charging may begin discharging into the coil in the charger, depending on the control circuitry in the e-cig itself.

I use the Xtar charger Hifi but I still feel better with the peace of mind knowing that the power is cut after a set time. Overkill it may be but I sleep sound

Whatever gives people peace of mind... It's a personal choice, I guess..

Not had a prob with my TR001 since I got it ....... moons ago , I agree they "may" have a tendancy to overcharge .. but I haven't seen any problems thus far
